Again, I understand the frustration of these fans.  It's really hard for me to take most of them seriously even when they have valid points.

When a person is at the place where they are attacking an actress and using nicknames like "jac" and "Jacqui" like they know JGL personally they are in too deep in the parasocial relationship.

Nothing Kate Mansi was going to say would change that and just be used against her.  If she had to say something it should have been a blanket pr statement saying she enjoyed Kraze, working with JGL, will miss her and wishes her best in the future.

Also- it is part of their job to speak highly of the show. As much access that we have to these performers and showrunners, it is not an actual relationship.

I would choose to engage less than many of them do. But if I was being accused of getting my co-star fired, and that I hated playing a LGBTQ character or story, I would probably speak up and challenge that too. But it doesn’t matter because people online entrenched in an opinion about someone are rarely going to change, they will just find another topic that they hate about them. And soap fans tweet the most heinous stuff directly to these people.

Soap actors are stars but not so big that they can easily avoid the total nasty behavior some people have towards them or the show on social media.

Oh, crap. I bet you're right. Let me see. What it is, is the part of the Hilton interview where he said she had lived openly gay for some time & then she agrees. I'll try to find it another way.

One thing I will say as far as people referring to Jac, Jackie, etc. to me that is harmless & it goes on all the time, all over the place & personally I think some people make much too much of it. JGL and her twitter name are probably used 10 times more often. If someone did a tally I bet @TinyWonderLopez would win hands down.

Here we have to agree to disagree.

True.

I liked Kraze, but even I am shocked at this level of backlash cuz WOW.

She was darned if she did, darned if she didn't.

Also true.

But it is the nature of the social media beast that there has to be some engagement/networking going on. And for sure that slope be slippery.

The one thing I will say about KM is that she has been in this particular genre of the business for years on two notoriously fanatical soaps.  She's in her 30's.  She should have known not to engage or put out one nice statement.   That absolutely doesn't excuse fan behavior.  I just think unfortunately she has to take the high road.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. A savvy celeb would have one post where they offer support for the fired actor, the LGBTQ relationship, and that Kristina continue as bisexual or however they were defining her sexuality.  It’s the replying to other people’s posts and comments that seems unprofessional. Why argue with what are essentially fans? You are validating their attention IMO, not repairing anything.

Finola Hughes does a great job commenting on positive posts on Instagram- someone praising a scene or actor and often she is there with a short but sweet compliment. To me, that’s how to do it when it comes to the actual show. You post on your own wall addressing something that you feel has to be commented on, and then just engage in positivity or on your co-worker’s posts because those are not parasocial relationships, those people actually know each other. Mansi, and truthfully, Laura Wright could learn some lessons from some of their peers when it comes to this.

I hate the mentality that they chose to be performers so anything is fair game. I think that is bullshit, they are still people and their job happens to be public facing.

I would just note that by a huge majority there are positive, empowering posts being made. I know very well that the "delulu" ones stand out & get more attention & I guess that can't be helped.

In Kate's last post she basically said she would no longer be commenting on this issue. I along with others had encouraged this idea much earlier.

It seems like a time suck for Kate Mansi and has to be mentally draining.

I am not PR person, but just giving a short little statement thanking people for their fan support, praising JGL, wishing her the best, and saying she's excited for what's next for Kristina would be fine like you said.

I am sure some people would still be mad, but a short statement would have taken 5 mins as opposed to the several hours Mansi spent going back and forth.  I am not blaming her for defending herself, but it feels like she was just making her life harder.

I believe she was at it most of the night. I think she mentioned 4 a.m. Not good for her to be at it like that.

I wanted to respond to this comment specifically. One of the Kraze fans, who maintains the best YT channel on Kraze, polls people to find out how many say they discovered Kraze on her channel but then began to watch the show daily. What's encouraging is that so many say that is exactly what happened. I know some people will minimize this because it's self-reporting & there is no way to verify it. But, why would anyone lie? If it's not meaningful to them, they just probably would not fill out the form.

Poor Kate Mansi has to deal with the crazies now. These weird, creepy people who think they know everything about someone's working place and have ruined soaps in the past because they were obsessing with couples and demanded to write the show themselves. Not again. Not over "Jac".

    • I know some of y'all really like Brooke Kerr, and so I've tried to give her a shot, despite her frequent flat line readings and distracted "did I leave the front door unlocked?" facial expressions. But lord, she is so bad at playing a tough-talking badass that I was actually rooting for Brad today to spill the beans to Drew.
    • Googling does tend to ruin it.  For those of us who were teens in the late 1970s and early 1980s, you can't imagine how much fun it was to watch the show in the afternoons.  (It came on right after school.)  There weren't any "spoilers" at the time.  We would always try to anticipate how each crime and each mystery would be resolved, and we were ALWAYS wrong, because the stories are filled with so many weird twists and turns.   The head writer (Henry Slesar) and his dialogue writer (Steve Lehrman) invariably toss genuine clues directly into your face in the most unlikely ways, but then they provide a host of "red herrings" to completely confuse you and send you off on the wrong path.  Once the story reaches its conclusion, all you can think is Why didn't I figure that out weeks ago?  lol
    • Does the vault have the original scene and not the short flashback?
    • I appreciate that you are using AI with the knowledge of it's limitations. Some posters take everything it produces as fact.
    • And of course Mama Ru herself appeared on All My Children.
    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
    • @Maxim Great to see your mini-reviews again. There are a number of clips on Youtube of Janice's slow mental breakdown, especially as we go into January 1980. Christine Jones is just superb. She played the hell out of that role. Something which isn't referenced as much later on is how Mitch pushed Janice's doubts and mental instability for his own ends...until suddenly he didn't want to anymore (I guess he caught on with the audience and the show became wary). I don't want to post a bunch of clips, but this one has a very good confrontation between Rachel and Janice.

This has a good scene around 7 minutes in where you can see Janice struggling internally with her need to identify herself so much by the men around her, all of which helps lead to her crackup.
    • It really made Oscar the Doorman seem like an imbecile.   I think the show's unusual format & subject manner is what makes EON often seem less "dated" and "old-fashioned" than other shows from that time period.  It never attempted to be especially "trendy" or "modern" -- and its film noir style is pretty timeless.
    • Dallas, Dynasty, Knots and Falcon Crest all had good runs but by 85 they had seen better days. I think they were a victim of the format. After several seasons seeing the same characters front and center viewers were bored. What was once fascinating grew predictable. JR, Alexis etc had to be front and center and after a while their schemes and shtick grew repetitive. JR remarrying Sue Ellen, Alexis constantly trying to get he better of Blake etc Unlike daytime, there wasn't the flexibility to bring in other stories and characters and maybe let the likes JR go backburner. That same mentality also invaded daytime with characters like  Sonny and Victor still peddling the same stuff after decades. I guess the same could be said for MSW eg every week Jessica encounters a crime and solves it,but I think viewers come to that format with a different mindset.
