HW: Patrick Mulcahey & Elizabeth Korte

BDW: Suzanne Flynn

SW: Scott Sickles

DIR: Denise Van Cleave

We might assume that Lloyd Gold was fired given he hasn't written a breakdown since 6/21 and they've added Nigel and Cathy to the outline team.

Why do these writers think we care about Gio's background -- who he was related to, who paid for what, etc.?

Give the kid something to do. ANYTHING.

If they're taking a left turn and rewriting Gio as one of Sonny's kids, I have no words.

I was pleasantly surprised by Nina’s scenes today. I was expecting her to immediately want Sonny back but she stood her ground and realized she and Sonny weren’t really compatible and was okay moving on. I still think she should be more pissed at Drew but her scenes talking about him and Sonny with Maxie were great.

Natalia convincing Sonny to get back in the label business to help Blaze…um okay I guess. I liked the Brook Lynn stipulation he gave her at the end.

Jagger was highly annoying today yapping to Jason. Of course he missed out on capturing Valentine, what a fail FBI agent. Anna’s smugness at the end was funny but I wasn’t buying any of the Vanna nonsense. He set her stupid ass up and she fell hook line and sinker. Hopefully this is the end of this Pikeman story since the constant start and stop ruined what could’ve been an interesting plot.

They have to stop regurgitating Gio’s backstory and give Lois something better to do. Lois was one of the first people Carly met in PC they could have given them a more interesting scene. I’m sick of seeing Joss and Gio at the pool barely working, get these characters into some real mess already.

Nina, as usual is all over the place. She is completely over being mad at Drew it seems, but that's Nina. She can't hold onto that kind of thing with a man. The closure between her & Sonny was so good although I can't figure Sonny out. He is seeming more like a man who is completely on his meds now! I wonder if Clement the pharmacist didn't refill his prescription at 100% instead of what Ava "NotMrsCorinthos" said to do.

Natalia, so annoying. She's a bigot & we should get to hate her but they have her come up with a plan to save Blaze's musical career. At least Sonny stipulated that Brook Lynn has to be in charge since it's his money. Of course, Sonny doesn't care about money, only power & getting sex every now & then. Natalia's his new mark for that.

I think this is it for Pikeman. But, it's amazing how inept they can make Cates!

Jason went directly - do not pass go - to Carly!!! And, said, WE are free!" We, he said we.

You all were not kidding. That was juicy AF.

I knew it was a matter of time (if they were going to go there) that Willow and Drew would kiss. But what I was not ready for was that Willow clearly started that. And SASHA walked in on it?? OOooooo MESS!!! And just as Drew and Nina seem to finally be acknowledging their feelings, too. AND Michael and Nina called a truce. That was all just great soap. Honorable mention to Sasha talking to Nina and how deep that conversation was.

Meanwhile FINALLY!!!! Cody finally told Mac. Given it has been going on for two years, that was great. And the direction was good. The confrontation. And yes, JJY can still get it. lol. And count me in on everyone else who said that this pervious writing team have rebooted Maxie nicely. I loved her scene with Cody.

While I liked the Portia v Laura scene, I admit that the main part of it was bad optics because it felt less like the other times when Portia was calling out people and making total sense and more like having someone look crazy to look crazy. Though I do love seeing Portia on the warpath.

That brief scene with Tracy and the senator has me worried. They are not about to kill off Monica, are they?

Maura West can turn legitimate dogshït into gold. She is that fücking amazing.

She really can. If Ava was in anyone else's hands, I really don't think I would care as much. But I love watching MW work. All the way back to her as Carly on ATWT

I think the idea of the Heather story is very juicy, especially considering Laura's role as mayor, but it ended up underscoring just how limited Laura's role is on the canvas as they couldn't or wouldn't figure out how to make her arguments for Heather more central to everything going on. This is where the lack of continuity and connection really comes into play as they didn't care enough to involve the characters who were directly affected by Heather's crimes, either because of laziness, or because they are hoping viewers will forget Heather went on a lengthy killing spree a whopping two years ago. Imagine if 30 years ago they had decided to do some type of story where Laura wanted to free Ryan, and Steve and Audrey just weren't involved.

I do think the fans who speculated that Valentini fought hard to push Mulcahey out to try to save Easton's job might have a point, but the decision must have made to dump him around the time the decision was made to dump Howarth.

That's just it. Starting out...and why I loved it...was that the writers (or PM) were allowing all the characters find out about it slowly. And from there they were showing the characters' reactions and feelings. At the time, it felt like Laura was all over the canvas, too, so it's saddening to see her in hit-and-miss appearances at the moment.

I agree with you. I also feel the decision to do so was done long before it showed up on screen because I felt it was extremely well paced for what it ended up being IMHO.

wonder if Genie took her summer vacation, and if that has played a part in Laura’s story right now. She is too isolated without Nikolas and Spencer. Hopefully Lucky helps with that.

I think what happened is that nobody had a plan. And what plans they did try to make were being constantly undone by either ABC, Valentini, or both. And I think of Korte as an extension of FV here.

I admit that I'm wondering this as well. Until it's mentioned, it feels like Heather's story has vanished. Up until Portia vs Laura at the Qs...was the last time it was touched on Curtis seeing Heather in prison or when Trina called Laura out in her office?

Same.

I think there was a plan with the Finn exit story, as it progressed naturally through Mulcahey's tenure, alongside Gregory's exit (it might be the only story that did). What I'm wondering about is if Valentini was trying to get ABC to bring Finn back after his rehab stint, rather than permanently writing him out.

Same. Though I would like to add in Alexis's storyline to get her license back which I also felt progressed naturally as well. That and Finn exit story, I mean.

I wouldn't care about Ava under anyone else; West was made for Ava in the same way she was made for Carly. Two amazing original characters, two different roles and West encapsulates them both so well.

Yasssssss!!!! They finally made it back around to Ava, Sonny's meds, and the doctor!!!!

It goes without saying that I loved MW in those scenes. Ava is at her best when she is playing the villainess. And she had to throw some shade, too, cuz Sonny is always wife-ing up, ain't he? lol. As much as I like Ava to have the wiggle room of a conscience, I also like it when she ACTS. Well...schemes. And her vs Sonny scene...ooooh Ava was playing him like a fiddle. And the timing of Wagger at her door...delicious.

Not them playing the beat of Sasha messing with the second DNA test. So 2 for 2 this episode on the plot points coming back around. If looks could kill, Felicia would have seen Sasha ash.

Cody walking around shirtless for most of the episode. Perhaps it's the heat here...but I don't mind. lol. I DID mind Drew in that jacket, but he's been giving bubble butt in slacks most of this week so far so I was looking forward to more. ;)

OMG yes. I just watched the 7-10 episode and she was giving me life with how she was playing Ava. It's making me miss the days of Eileen Davidson as Kristen Dimera on DAYS watching her.

Knowing what she's planning, watching Ava basically set Sonny up pre-custody suit was a thing of beauty. Her body language. The subtleties in her voice. The looks. MW was GIVING. Sonny thinks he's entrapping Ava, but in reality...hehe.

The way, in the early days, she would slither around was... so perfect. I remember a scene, opposite William deVry's Julian where she proclaimed she was a Jerome, and then proceeded to stroke her own wrist and it was just... masterful. She played every beat then and she plays it now.

I'm disappointed we did not get more Eileen Davidson vs. Maura West on The Young and the Restless when West was Diane. That would've been magic.

She just knows what she's doing; she's a woman in a man's world, and she's playing it her way.

That she was. And she definitely do now.

While I thought she was miscast, that was no fault to MW who really did good with what she was given

No one could ever accuse Ava of not being a ballbuster when need be. She for sure was playing it to the hilt.

I enjoyed her as Diane; they were recasting anyway, and she was prime for the picking. It's just Maria Arena didn't want her, and got rid of her the first moment she got.

Very.  Can't wait to see what she does next. I so love a good schemer/villainess.

I'm hoping for something BIG! I feel like I know what [might] be coming... and I'm all for it, because it could be big drama.

Today's show was very underwhelming. Anything special in the writing is long gone.

The scenes with Anna and Valentine were particularly flat and silly. Something shocking would have been nice, like her actually turning him in or shooting him. Valentine is such a failed character; to ruin Anna over him is sad.

Valentin can go away and never come back. I don't care. He can also take Jagger and Brennan with him.

The Pikeman storyline has gone on for too long. It is boring, confusing, and bad.
