Did anyone else feel that this morning? And after marveling at the preparedness of Taiwan, we get rumbling here with a scattershot alert system here, with some in NYC getting alerts 30 minutes late and the rest, nada. Get it together, USA.

I thought my building was collapsing. And, yes, the alerts were very late.

Do you live in a pre-war building? I used to live in one and I loved the high ceilings but I doubt many pre-war buildings are reinforced structurally.

I do, yeah. In Washington Heights. And it was super frightening for that very reason. I jumped into a doorway, but I doubt that would have been helpful if the building was crumbling.

Glad everyone from SON is safe. @AbcNbc247 was on earlier this morning before earthquake hit. I hope he's ok too! It hit directly in his area.

Thanks! I’m fine. I was in my office in Lower Manhattan when the quake hit. I didnt know what it was at first, but then when I heard my coworkers talking about it, I knew what was going on.

Actually, as I type this, I think we just had an aftershock.

Yeah, people are saying on Twitter they felt it. I am traveling now so I’m not there to witness it like this morning.

Luckily, it didn’t happen while I was on the train going home lol

@AbcNbc247

Glad to hear you are ok. Be careful with those aftershocks.

Can't believe an earthquake in NJ of all places.

Of course we had one in Texas a while back. I remember sitting in my chair and it moving around on me. Later I found out I live close to a fault line.

Thanks!

We get them every so often. The last time was in 2011
