I'm sure the soap press would have criticized it, but at least Bill and Luke were cousins.  I still don't know what, if any, connection Tad and Ted had beyond looking alike, lol.

I would nominate the murder swap of Adam and Stuart on AMC as a terrible idea.

It may an unpopular opinion, but I never enjoyed the character of Stuart, as I thought the overly precious portrayal of his unspecified developmental delay was insensitive.

As a "character-damaging twist", Y&R’s Neil holding a comatose Hilary hostage in the boathouse was one of the worst.  No way Neil would ever do that.

In addition to worst twist, I'd nominate that for
"worst-written storylines to cover/explain an actor's parental leave or medical leave"
(if such a thread existed)
(In this case, it was Mishael's maternity leave).

Lord haha it was really bad. I also hated how that show wasted Amelia Marshall. Van Johnson if I recall had a background of acting in those  cheesy action shows of the mid-late 90s that were both syndicated but ended up airing on USA as well (usually starring Lorenzo Lamas) before making the leap to daytime on Y&R, where basically he was a one note villain who had a goon to do his dirty work.

Indeed I hated it too, and sadly Neil never recovered from that storyline nor was ever given the time too unfortunately.

As gross as the story was that Neil and Devon had share a second woman, Neil’s history of cheating himself it didn’t make sense for him to become some evil sadistic moral self-righteous villain either. I remember Neil being nasty/condescending to Lily about her problems with Cane and Joe around the same time and it just felt so wrong for Neil to act that way.

Another ridiculous story…on top the whole all the show’s leading ladies dumping JT into a shallow grave like it was a 1996 Melrose Place episode

On GL..who is "A. Spaulding" who framed Phillip.  It was supposed to be so smart with everyone in the Spaulding family's name starting with A (besides Phillip) and it might have been good if it lasted a few weeks, but it went on for months..and everyone was rewritten to act as if they did not want Phillip back in town (Alex loved Phillip, Alan of course thought he was the golden boy, and AM and he were getting along when Phillip left town...the only person that would have a motive would be Amanda who conceivably could have an issue of being the oldest but overshadowed by Phillip) but the audience figured out that it was actually Blake...(get it "a" Spaulding..) which, since she was already suffering another bad plot twist (having twins by two fathers) could have been interesting to see Phillip get revenge on the mother of both his uncles and best friends kids. But McTavish got p*ssed that people figured out and made the villain....Alan...which again could have been a turning point in their relationship, but soon Phillip was calling Alan "dad" and acting like everything was hunky dory.

Okay, Brandon is really Amanda's father was right up there.

    • Jonathan Kellerman is definitely the most EON/Slesar-like writer in the business right now.  Unfortunately, he's almost 80 years old.  Interestingly, he has a son (Jesse Kellerman) who's about 45, who's been studying under him.  I believe what makes the Kellermans such effective mystery & crime writers is their background in psychology.
    • I never understood the point of Marchetti. Summer left the show for a job there in Italy. OK. When she returned they had Jack buy the company. Why couldn't Summer have returned and simply stated it was not a good fit, she missed her home , family/friends etc It was absurd that this internationally successful fashion empire could just be bought by a US cosmetics firm at the drop of a hat. What was the point when they never did anything with it at all? Summer simply could have gone to work at Jabot. And wasn't there some nonsense about an offshhoot called Marchetti Home? Was Phyllis attached to that at some point? This show...

    • Haven't seen today's ep yet but so will be interested to see the clothes. So far I think they have been very character specific (even if I don't like some of them eg Kat's cutsie style) Anita is very showy/glittery, Nicole classic elegance, Dani sexy/bold colors etc. Unlike Y&R which seems much more generic. Also BTG pays attention to the men's wardrobe and has developed a style for the boyz-which is harder to do with male fashion. The absence of any of Derek/Ashley at any of these big events again demonstrates how they are in a different universe to the rest of the show. Not that a nurse and a fireman would be there but still they seem destined at this point to stay in their own lane and have little interaction with the core of the show.
    • Agnes had written for Bernard Grant for many years on TGL as well as Ernest Graves and Joe Gallison,Doris Belack,Robert Milli, and  Antony Ponzini at AW. So she would probably gravitate to writing a role with an actor in mind or choosing someone she had written for before who she knew could deliver.
    • Once Johnny Dallas' cut himself off from Laurie Ann Karr and their son, and once Laurie successfully recovered from her mental problems, she wanted a new, fresh, and healthy start for the next chapter of her life. She legally reverted her name and changed John Victor's  surname to Karr. After moving to the country (when Teri  Keane was dropped from the show), Bill and Martha Marceau legally adopted Jennifer, the baby girl whom they had earlier taken in when the child's biological mother, Taffy Simms (and other bio family members) proved to be unfit to raise her. Jennifer legally and emotionally became a Marceau, and gave that name to her own daughter, whom Jennifer birthed through surrogacy as a single parent. Et...voila! The Karr and Marceau legacies live on.

    • BLQ is having second thoughts regarding putting her baby up for adoption. Chase is upset he can't tell Dante. So both are putting this on at lulus feet. Saying she is holding it over them. Lulu is doing none of this.
    • Yes she absolutely was involved in that story which seems to have gone nowhere.  She didn't start to remove herself from the writing until 1973.
