The trailer was good for soap fans like me, but bad for people who are not soap opera lovers.

It didn’t have a narrative or a plot to engage new viewers. It just offered some soap moments like slaps, romance, etc.

It looked more of a trailer of an on-going series than a new series.

I think I can love this show, but right now the publicity has been bad IMO.

Honestly, these are fair comments.  The "Are you on drugs?" or "Are you okay?" comments were unjustified.  It's okay if people aren't 100% positive all the time.  There's nothing wrong with valid criticism.

The show's composer is Kurt Farquhar. His output is very diverse. I'm not familiar with any of the dramas he has worked on but I included a couple of his pieces below. I was hoping for more of a timeless Pino Donaggio-esque symphonic soundtrack, but I like the orchestral aspects the 96 Minutes score.

Interview with Jibre Hordges (Jacob)

He mentions the vet actors have been helpful with the pace and technicalities of doing a soap and admits there was a struggle at first but the cast has found a groove. Also says the show does a great job mixing drama with strong representation of black affluence

Yeah I think trying to look at the show from a non regular soap viewing lens is making people project more negativity than they should.

@Alan I know a lot of the shows Kurt has worked on, he’s a legend tbh. My only wince would be on some of the dramatic stuff it felt like the soundtrack never stopped long enough to allow certain scenes to breathe (Saints & Sinners had this problem the worst). Hopefully we get more quiet moments on BTG with the score only added when its truly needed.

    • Yes and I also loved how she focused on Chelsea and Naomi when she spilled Bill's involvement in all of this.
    • Danny: Don't drink it. Just hold it. Rocco drinks three laced cups.

    • OH, I AM.   And it looks like it's a pretty good episode so I might watch later on this weekend after work cuz I see a lot of scenes with people I actually like. Very happy to see Rocco/Danny appear to be getting story, too.
    • I do agree that a revival of EON would work, if it doesn't fall into doing all of the typical soap opera tropes... which it became guilty of in the final few years of the show with the over abundance of Raven/Sky at the expense of the actual detectives, police, etc. And I know it was mentioned earlier that Raven had lost any true connections on the show with the death of her on screen mother, and the loss of April/Draper/Deborah.. and I do agree with that. I actually thought the show would have done something with the Shelley character that could have connected her to the Raven character.  There were a few scenes where the two would have scenes and size one another up before they would go their separate ways.. so I assumed perhaps they would have been revealed as half-siblings and/or perhaps cousins.  Alas.. not to be.
    • It definitely flowed beautifully. So much that I was annoyed when Vanessa/Doug because I wanted to get back to the party. I know it was intentional to build up tension and suspense. It worked. lol. I'm glad it was there in hingsight because it gave us that great conversation between Doug and Vanessa. Foreshadowing? And yesss!!! This episode was sooo old school soap giving beat after beat after beat leading up to the unveiling of Eva as Ted's daughter. And we still have plenty of fallout/aftereffects to work through.   Speaking of...Bill, Bill, Bill lol. Good to have confirmation HE was the scary lawyer.   I'm sure I will have a busy Monday, but I can't wait for it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more. Probably Anita vs Silk Press Sheila tbh. And yes, I feel they will be matching each other 'blow for blow.'
    • And if they go there, it could also be tied to Johnny completely cutting him off, possibly going to work for Titan, etc.
    • @AbcNbc247 maybe it is just that they've gone to that well too often, and I don't like when DAYS goes dark, but I'm OK with EJ abusing drugs, and just skipping the whole sobriety part. Side note: experiencing hallucinations of my son killing me would be enough for me to never want to take a pill again.

    • Part of the reason that Courtney worked at OLTL was because the show had an actual character for her to play.  One that was somewhat different than her character on AW, and after the way she was treated over at AW.. it had to have been nice to be courted onto a new soap that actually valued your contributions.
    • I figured the "long" was already implied
