It will be exciting to see what these three actresses bring to the screen with these characters. The producers definitely are on the right track with casting and the rest of the cast should be on point.

I have a feeling that Tunie and Mosley are really going to light up the screen together.

I'm not sure that the lessons of PSSN are of use to any other venture. So much was just about James Reilly. And, of course, the execs at NBC thinking he was a miracle storyteller. Their expectations were amazing & basically showed that they didn't know anything at all about beginning a new soap & that it would take time to grow an audience. I do not expect this to be at all like that was.

I can't stop thinking about  the opening credits and theme tune. Will it showcase the actors (and if so their names aswell)? Or will it be simple and timeless ala Days?

Will the theme be orchestral, synthy, jazzy, or maybe even vocal. On a similar note I can't wait to hear the music cues. This is such an exciting time.

A small bit of food for thought, probably more trivia than anything else but, I have been thinking about how the recent mini scandal with P&G and one of their recently acquired brands might possibly have an effect on the PR for this show. In a deft stroke of ingenuity, there has been apparent diminution of P&G’s role in the production of this soap, which is probably for the best. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, nevermind lol.

I think PASSIONS is getting a bad rap here.

If you wanted a traditional soap, it didn't work. You had to suspend belief and roll with the camp and the absurdity. That first day in Harmony took a month To play out onscreen, and at that point you were either in or out.

I understand why some people didn't like it, but I think Reilly had a vision that was carried out. The soapy weirdness kept me watching until it ran out of gas, but I think it was a noble attempt at something different.

It's recently been discussed quite a bit in the FB soap group I run. Some call it the worst soap ever. Some say it's not really a soap at all. Some were very specific that they watched & read all about it ahead of time & then felt cheated because what they got was not what they'd been led to believe they would get. Others simply loved it & embraced it. Others were big fans but felt that at some point Reilly seemed to "lose it". With him it seems to me you get potential controversy. Everyone was civil. I moved a subset discussion that was embittered AW fans away because it was beginning to look explosive. My primary reaction to it is that I think some NBC execs were stupid & short-sighted because they had this weird idea that it was going to come out of the gate with great ratings numbers rather than have to grow an audience. Like learn something about programming soaps, guys.

I hear you on all of that. I was REALLY angry at NBC and P&G when Another World was canceled. So many of us were, even though we'd been frustrated for years about mistakes made at AW.

NBC was absolutely crazy to think that ratings for PASSIONS would be great with so many ticked off and sad AW viewers out there -- and it didn't help when The AW replacement was a hard 180 away from what we'd seen for decades.

No soap cancellation broke my heart the way Another World's did.

    • You’d think he would’ve learned after the way Sprina took off.  I hope we get a proper Emma/Gio/Trina/Kai quad, as friends, romantic rivals, etc. In the few scenes that the four of them have had together, I felt like there was a natural chemistry between all of them, similar to the way that Cam/Spencer/Trina/Joss was, in the beginning.  And, it would be a lot better than all this stuff with Kai’s surgery.
    • Hooray we made the exact same critique to Londonscribe!!!!!
    • I don't think they had any idea who he was this time last year. I think they were keeping their options very open. Same with totally dropping the Trina romance that was spoiled for him in the mags once FV clearly took a shine to him. Frank's priorities are bright and blazing in one color. I do think Gio and Emma seem to have worked out given that she is very dry and sarcastic and he is like a hot golden retriever, but I'd still play the field or explore quads with both with very different people - Emma with a scheming young man (of color), Gio with possibly Trina or someone else, or even a boy. Then maybe put them back together, who knows. But of course none that will happen.

    • He definitely got lost in the shuffle last year. First, they were implying that he was Drew’s son, then he was nothing more than just Violet’s bff

And then they changed him to being Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, which was clunky at first but I’m enjoying the storyline now.
    • GM is adorable, charming and fun onscreen despite months of nothing to do until recently, and has a bodacious bod. I'm not cosigning the show or this story - I haven't watched a full episode in over a month - but I think we're all taking the small victories in 2025 at this point. I'm open to testing this theory!
    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
