You don't have to delve specifically into politics to explore what it means to be "of color" in America, especially after last night.  BTG provides an opportunity to start or add to that discussion.  And that's all I choose to say about that, lol.

Yes, that, too!

About BTG, atm I am considerably interested in several things.

The Writing Team: Obviously, I am one of many who is perplexed by the inclusion of one particular Breakdown writer. I would've thought he was looking at a very long time walking on the beach with his husband & their dogs. Instead, I learned last week that he is now gainfully employed again as a writer! This is astounding to me.

Next: This idea that not everyone who is on board there now will be staying on for the long haul. The coach is gonna be sending some of the team back to the minor leagues. I wonder, do those individuals know this about their future? Or lack thereof?

Plus: The Karla Mosley "AMEN" connection.

Last: Doesn't Tamara Tunie simply look fabulous?!!!

I don't want to rain on your parade, but the only member I've seen in the last few pages that gives off a "policing people" vibe is... quite frankly - you, my dear. Don't take it personally, it's just how it feels to me. Maybe I am wrong.

For example... you come up with a comment how EVERYBODY is rude to this member... without specifying who... minutes after I had just responded to them... and it just... gave me a strange vibe. These hints, without saying anything specific...  just leave a feeling of being, yes... kinda POLICED.  LOL.

And I'm still waiting for you to specify who wrote a racist comment that you saw in this topic, (which you said that it was not the troll we all addressed). You left that comment and... didn't reveal what that comment was... and it left a bad taste in my mouth that it was left like that. Who, where and when left a racist comment? In this day and age things like that should be addressed and not swept under the rug.

Again, it's up for you to decide if you are going to just leave hints... or be specific. I can only say what rubs me the wrong way. That's all.

See, this I do agree with. I hope they tell modern stories and bring back the social issues of the past, but writing in Kamala winning? They'd be doing reshoots right now lol. Plus I think that limits them if they have characters in politics who may run for president one day. What would you do then?

I also agree with this. And I think there is time and place for everything. There IS Art and Entertainment that is only Escapism. Of course there is. I don't listen to Britney Spears to get a huge revelation about my life (some may find that in her music and that's lovely)... but some Art pieces, shows, films, theatre works... are provoking, socially connected and mirroring true events. I've studied acting and I know so much about Theatre... that my head starts spinning when I think about this. What I mean is - some of the greatest plays are an exact copy of what was happening socially, politically, culturally at a specific time and place. Works that are definitely politically engaged and quite scandalous even. Some critics can even argue that some works of art have CHANGED Politics and the way Society works. But that is a long, long topic. So there is a place for THESE types of shows too.

Wait. During Carlivati's tenure, you watched the show, daily, for all of that time and your only issue with him is that you apparently don't appreciate Stacy Haiduk & want Eileen Davidson back even though she's been clear on what she is and is not willing to do? We don't know each other but this makes me very terribly curious as I have so many issues with what Ron wrote & how he wrote it. Don't get me wrong. I absolutely adore Eileen Davidson & would love to have her full-time playing Kristen & any of the living Banks siblings that were needed from time to time, BUT that is not something that she is open to! And, yes, people understanding that Dee is the show's queen is an important factor.

But, no problem with demonic possession 2.0, the attempted Camp version? With the old TV show Mission Impossible style latex masks stories? The favoritism shown Leo? Throwing Nancy under the bus to tell Craig's story with him instead of some other character? The ubiquitous poor man's villain Clyde? RSW playing Ben & then Alex? Emily O'Brien as Gwen killing Laura Horton & getting away with it? Emily O'Brien & a terrible wig playing Theresa? The favoritism shown Emily O'Brien? The raw deal that both Kristian Alfonso & Martha Madison got? The gaping hole that needed to be filled with a recast Sami?

I won't go on. I'm sure you're relieved. But, really, you only take issue with Stacy? Not any of his actual habits or things that he wrote?

And, no, I am not being rude.

There is, but a CBS daytime soap is probably not on them.

All this talk of politics brings to mind Capitol, which was a soap specifically set in the world of politics, which managed over 5 years not to include any hot button political issues.

I know it was a different time, but I can't see BTG bothering to address contentious issues. It's a no win for them if they do.

And when the first dismissals occur, for whatever reason, they'll be given 30 min to clear out their dressing room. Just facts...

All I wanted to convey is I think daytime soap operas can be a place for culturally, socially, even politically relevant topics. I think history (of the entire daytime drama genre) has proven that. I'm not saying it has to be this ground-breaking social and political commentary... but it's not just a mindless escapism... all the time... is my point. And that's the key - all the time. I don't mind some entertainment and escapism too. But I understand what you mean. I really do. And you are probably more right than I am. And I'm okay with that.
