OMG...thanks so much for that post. Yes, I post at SOC under the name Jannsboy. I'm none too fond of the OLTL bashers over there and am often trying to debate with them, but it does no good. Everyday is an ugly day over there lol. You're only welcome if you hate Dena Higley and want Roger H back as Todd.

Thanks for the comment about Margaret!!! I agree, she did deliver some of the best performances and I wish Tari Signor had been nominated. There are continuous twists and that's why I don't understand when people talk about how nothing ever happens. Something big happens all the time!! Then they whine nad complain about how Erika Slezak and Catherine Hickland are never on...but that's such a lie. Vikki is on at LEAST once a week for the most part...unlike on "Days of our Lives", where we're lucky if we see vets once a month. DH is doing the best she can to give Catherine Hickland a story-- hence Marcie's bridesmaid. Such people are just so ungrateful and impatient.

---end rant---

I wonder if anything would make the fans there happy. BTW I post under Dagger. Actually Todd has changed so much, I now have fell out of love with him..(just like Blair has claimed too) and now my new love is Spencer. I was a little upset when I thought he might have killed Margaret. How dare I lose faith in Spencer, only to find out a few days later that he has Maggie comfortably stashed away. I should have known Spencer is not a murderer, at least not yet. LOL. Can't wait for Margaret to come back to town, that should be fun. I believe that Cat Hickland chose to go to her re-current status, correct me if I'm wrong.

A lot of great stories are coming up and I can't wait. May sweeps are going to be FAROUT man!

I will post here just to say that I still love the show. That is the reason I get so mad at Higley sometimes. I love the performers alot. That is the best I can say about the show right now though. Since this is a love thread I will leave it at that.

As far as Catherine Hickland, no she did not want to go to recurring at all. That was a big shock to her. She actually thought she was going to get a story with Jenn's death. She got called in to FV's office and he told her that Jenn was going to be killed but that it did not mean more story for her, but that her contract was not going to be renewed, but they would like for her to continue in a recurring capacity. So without a contract she only gets paid now when she actually is called to work. Also she has no benefits from the show.

Of course she is free at any time to take another job and I hope some show will snap her up. She is terrific.

It's all good except for the manipulation of the tptb and how they enjoy pitting the fanbases against each other. I don't believe that Higley is totally responsilbe for fans being upset, she's just doing what she is told to do by the higher ups. I think she's writing much better lately. It's all a mind game and it keeps the fans tuning in to see what is going to happen to their favorites next.

With that bit out of the way I see some good stories coming, due to Spencer Truman upsetting the whole town of Llanview. How boring would Llanview be with out Spencer and Margaret stirring up the magic brew. Also look what Margaret has done for Todd. Now Todd is a good boy with moral obligation to do right. Too funny, but the fans love it.

It's so hard to go from one message board to another and read the same people complain about the same things and say how the tptb are ruining everything single thing about the show and the people who seem to like a certain characters or a particular story lines are sheep and stupid.

If the show is so awful that as a fan you become that offended by it then why would anyone watch it every single day and then complain about it every single day?

If some one posts something positive then why would anyone go out of the way to bash the post or the poster? If someone disagrees claims that their pov's are invalid because they have only been watching the show to two years or less so their opinion is baseless are posted.

Some really bitter posters who I'm sure have very good reasons to be angry with the way they think the show their favorite character and story lines are going can't get around the fact that some soap opera viewers just don't watch soaps for the same reasons they do.

I know I speak only for myself when I say that I don't look to dissect every conversation and look for any missed opportunity as some behind the scene agenda to ruin my favorite character because I happened to hate his or her current story line. I never watch soaps like that and it's not until I came online that I realized that not everyone just watched what ever was on the screen and that a certain amount of fans were more concerned with what was going on behind the cameras. I don't like every story line and certainly not every character on the show and I never have but what I do like about the show I would like to be able to post about with out the snide comments about my mental capacity and the personal attacks because I like a character someone else finds repulsive. SOC imo has become notorious for the sort of behavior and I no longer go there. I happen to love OLTL and I know there is always room for improvement but I try to find something to like and I go with it.

    • That was such a missed opportunity, especially with May sweeps.  And, it would’ve been a much better story for Naomi/Jacob than whatever’s going on with June
    • https://www.hulu.com/hub/tv/collections/9979 Amazed! But loving it. What this shows is GH Hulu out of top 15, GH is #2 & this was Saturday. Are we happy campers? Yes, at least for the moment, you bet we are.
    • I forget his name but Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth had the EP on after they didn't understand the 60s flashback episode due to the lack of original music. He felt that was one of his strongest episodes so he came on to explain to them just how much the music changes hurt the series. Basically, they only allowed him to pick a selection of episodes he felt the music was vital and other than that they didn't bother to save the music.  They kept music for prom and things like the Color Me Badd episode and for most of the musical acts but any music you loved from the opening of the show or just music played in random scenes was cut.  I know there are also some scenes cut but I don't know too much about that. The most glaring one was Clare's final scene being cut which is obviously a huge problem for a character who'd been around for so long. Overall I was able to enjoy my rewatch using the DVDs but without all of the original music it isn't nearly as good a show.
    • Too many returns, that's when you know a show has run out of ideas and doesn't care anymore.  Zoe annoyed the sh!t out of me most times, but the Kat/Zoe storyline will always be iconic and close to my heart (that's the era I first started following the show in near real-time), and probably the only storyline in 21st century EastEnders that had long-term value for the characters involved during their initial run together. However, after all this time and the writing choice that Zoe never wants to see Kat again, I think that ship has sailed and I don't know that it makes sense to revisit it at this point.
    • Former EastEnders star Michelle Ryan is reprising her role as Zoe Slater on the BBC soap following an absence of over 20 years.  It’s been reported that Zoe will return to Albert Square later this year and that she’ll take centre stage in a dramatic new storyline involving her family.  The news comes amidst news of other big returns, which include Max Branning (Jake Wood), Tanya Cross (Jo Joyner), Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) and Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden), who will also be back in Walford later in the year.
    • I actually love the new fashion.
    • Admittedly, I was a latecomer to ATWT (first becoming a regular viewer in 2000). But I really liked KMH's Emily. I thought she was a very specific kind of neurotic professional character, and I loved her prickly relationship with MM's Susan. I will say I don't think the show did her any favors after Hal died, stranding her in storylines with several of the show's dullest characters: nu-Paul, nu-Meg, and nu-Dusty. I actually quite liked one of her last major storylines, when she discovered she had a grown-up biological son with Larry named Hunter. But then Hunter just sort of disappeared, and the story fizzled out, which was pretty typical of the late Goutman years.
    • I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.
    • Well, her staff pointing out the movie connection never seemed to stop Long from using those plots.  She was right about Vanessa--she needed a man who loved her, which she'd never really had up to then. But as others have pointed out, Long borrowed heavily from Taming of the Shrew to get it done. (which while I kinda disputed that, I get more now, having watched Kiss Me Kate a few times since.)
    • "Holly had her share of the blame..." NO, she did NOT. WOW. That's what you get for trying to be fair and giving these people the benefit of the doubt! The Rita rape episodes do not seem to be available. It sounds like Calhoun thought it was not dramatized, but it was. I saw it when it aired. Yes, it's close to 50 years ago, and memories aren't 100% reliable. I also know that Zaslow reportedly complained that it was written too much like a seduction and that's why the Dobsons portrayed Holly's rape differently. Maybe it started like a seduction and she rejected him and that's when it turned violent. I don't remember that part, if it exists. What I do remember is that Roger threw Rita so violently to the floor that she hit her head. They showed him coming at her from her point of view and he looked all fuzzy. It was an act of violence, not a seduction. Rita kept it a secret until it looked like Roger might be acquited, and then finally admitted it. She didn't make it up, it definitely was not a ploy.
