What’s your favorite catfight?

-Marlena vs Kristen in the secret room was fabulous

-Lauren and Sheila in the hotel room

-Jill versus Katherine in the attic

I didn’t watch the new Dynasty all that much but the Crystal vs Alexis catfight in the season one finale was terrific

Well, my personal favorite is also the one I consider to be Daytime's Finest. From Sally Sussman's fine little NBC 2 year soap, GENERATIONS, these two wonderful women just about destroyed an apartment. Without further ado, let's go to the clip.

Now, am I right? Or am I right?!!!

This famous scene (starting at 42:04) aired on Another World in 1974, and was particularly engrossing because viewers had waited for six YEARS for Alice to unleash her fury on  Rachel.

(Actually, Irene Dailey's Aunt Liz was far too meek here. Audra Lindley's version of Liz Matthews  from the 1960s would have whupped Rachel's a$$, and torn her hair out, from the moment that bitch marched in the room.)

For the time, that was a huge deal. The soaps had not yet started to go overboard with the cartoonish, campy slap fests and lily-pond dunks that came later. Soap mags printed several letter from viewers/readers who said how shocked they were that "good" Alice went after Rachel physically (lunging at her and throwing copper pots).

Oh. I guess. I just thought Alice was unhinged! i'm big catfight fan, when it's warranted and done well. I always hate when they're played for comedy. That's my one gripe with All My Children, everything always seemed comedic for some reason. The first and second catfight on Dynasty made sense and were actually pretty volatile, that's why those worked for me.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
    • And in case anyone is confused; Rusty was hired by HB to work undercover and infiltrate some gang sabotaging Lewis.

    • The Dallas finale was the highest-rated episode since October 9, 1987 (Gone with the Wind). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of Murder, She Wrote was October 23, 1987 (Tough Love). Prior to the finale, the last Dallas episode to finish ahead of a new episode of The Cosby Show was February 22, 1985 (Shattered Dreams).
