I have become aware of some fans who are taking the burning of Horton House as an ill omen that the show is going to be ending soon. This is what I have posted about that.

Don't attach any significance to this. It was Albert Alarr who did this! And it would have been one of the last things he did. So when he decided to put this into story & script he was under investigation for the second time in 2023. There was a huge fan campaign and petition to have him fired & 25 members of the cast had signed their own petition asking he be fired, as well. So, you know, come on, without a doubt that was his way of saying EFF You to the fans & the cast who were calling out his misdeeds!

And I know it has been suggested that those of us who think this about Alarr are in need of psychoanalysis, but I just think that when there's smoke there's usually fire & this is what was going on when this would have been written in a script. (Notwithstanding whether any DAYS fans need to have their head shrunk or not.)

Okay, but remember that this happened during the second consecutive unplanned dark week! No one was at the studio. Maybe they set it up online. But they were not physically in each other's presence unless they made a point to get together somewhere. And the original article said at least 25 cast members had signed it as of press time, possibly suggesting some more were going to sign it & they knew it.

However, sure, I'm curious too.

I was watching this promo where Tom tells Justin that Alex is his child, which makes the current ret-con even more ridiculous.  I mean, if you can't trust Dr. Horton, who can you trust?

However, it got me thinking about Dr. Neil Curtis.  And I wonder why Sarah and Alex aren't closer?  Days has had siblings with more tenuous relationships that were closer (i.e., Adrienne and Jack).  I recall that there was a throwaway line from Maggie that Neil would have been proud that Sarah was a doctor.  But, Alex was adopted by Neil and was referenced throughout the 1989 recaps as Alexander Curtis.  So, I wonder why those two characters don't cross paths more often?

All of which is to say, I still enjoy it when DAYS mixes up the pairs in scenes in order to avoid monotony.  And Alex desperately needs another talk-to than Marlena.

Because by the time everyone found out that Neil was Sarah's father, he and Angelica had already divorced and didn't have much of a relationship with Alex anymore.

Justin, Adrienne and the boys had already left Salem by that point.

That's precisely why I brought up Jack and Adrienne. Despite not knowing each other in their youth, they developed a strong bond as adults through their common parent. I'm not proposing they start calling each other siblings; rather, I simply crave more diversity in scene partners.

Additionally, do you reckon Judith Chapman often left work with a headache from all that eyebrow arching? It seems rather taxing.

I watched last week and I was surprised that they actually said Days was bad lately. I almost fell off my chair.

    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.

    • I started a separate thread for the same tribute, but of course it can be discussed wherever. doesn't matter where. Fyi  Jason Cook, Staci Greason, and Eileen Davidson will be there as well as Reckell and some of the current cast Thread for Live tribute to Drake https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/68987-days-currentformer-actors-live-video-tribute-for-drake-hogestyn
    • Seeing Nicole and Martin together reminds me of watching Alice with Mickey Horton in the 90s and 00s. The seem more like peers than mother and son.  The younger half of the cast (35ish and below) is playing younger, and the older half (35+) is playing older.
