DAYS: February 2024 Discussion Thread

I have to laugh at the hypocrisy of posters “boldly” telling us that they've stopped watching, or quit when it moved to streaming, and then crying over the loss of the Horton set.

There's a reasonable difference between a stunt and a slap in the face to viewers.  As a 40-year viewer, I would argue that stunts, from casting to plane crashes, are as much a part of DAYS history as Tom Horton's chair.  So, thanks for checking in and telling me that this is the final nail in the coffin, or an expression of anger from a fired producer, but I'm fine, and I am certain the set will be as well.

Good episode

I like the way it’s all being written, even though they do seem to be hyping up Harris’ shooting as a bigger event than the fire, which it isn’t, but I think we all know who’s fault that is. But still the fire just seems so unnecessary. They had to have known that soap fans don’t like things like this. I hope the aftermath is as good as the spoilers are hinting.

Doug and Julie and Thomas were breaking my heart though. Too bad that he got cheated out of an Emmy lol

I liked seeing Tripp in Doctor mode too.

And I am liking the Lucas aspect of the drug storyline, but honestly, why would anyone think that an apartment above a restaurant that everyone goes to would be a good safe house?

And, I enjoyed the Paulina/Chanel scenes. Paulina’s always at her best when she’s more subtle. But people still use DVD’s?

I think Clyde has to die.  I mean, he's already in prison, so that's hardly justice if he is sentenced to more time.

And considering Sloan is going broke babysitting for Nicole while she's in Europe (jk), we need to see some justice equally applied to the men of Salem.

Yes!!! Who would think hiding someone above Brady Pub would be an idea AT ALL, much less a good one!!

When we saw this on Day of Days my very first thought was the ornaments!!! And, here, we are & we don't know if they were saved, or salvageable, or what???!!!

I am somewhat dismayed that we don't know today, right now, where Xander is or has been!

I have not personally seen any non-watchers speaking about Burning Down Horton House, but even if they're not watching I can understand why DAYS fans would hear about it & be upset. Sure, why wouldn't they be? I know that if this had happened at a time when I was on a break that I would still have been upset to hear about it. To me that is just natural.

Today was 34 minutes long but how many flashbacks did we have? Was it 7? It was a heckuva lot! We might've only gotten about 25 minutes of new content!

All of that said, it was good DAYS

To me, the problem with Clyde is that he's not very scary.  Joe Mascolo was somehow still menacing well into old age, so when Stefano made a threat, it felt as if something big was going to happen.  Clyde just seems smarmy and scummy.  So, it is hard to believe that the combination of Chad, Stefan, and Ava couldn't take care of him with one phone call.

    • It is clear the secret involves some sort of roadside incident so it could have been a police stop. And tge Duprees support a police foundation could one of the clues that Martin's secret involves the police.
    • Hours later, I'm still wondering, what was EJ's plan in going to the hospital today? Does he think it's like a car dealership, and you can simply walk in and make an offer? That's why I laughed when Steve said that Dr. not-Rolf comes and goes.  One gets the sense the people in Salem randomly leave their offices, midday, to talk to relatives and co-conspirators.  I understand, they don't use the phone on soaps.  But, the amount of walking these citizens do in a day is remarkable.
    • Look how long it took to finally write Jack an age appropriate long term relationship with a woman he’s had history with since the damn 80’s.
    • This Sarah/Xander Lake Geneva weekend getaway trip will either be where Xander finds out that Sarah knew about the Phillip situation, or an emergency happens that prevents them from going.  Brownie points for the Lake Geneva mention since that's the getaway for a lot of people that live in northern Illinois/Chicago. EJ is kinda hot... though I never thought that about him when the previous actor played him.  I do think a Dimera owning the hospital would be interesting since the Hortons/Brady's have always had a rivalry with the Dimeras... and carrying that over to the hospital would be organic.
    • In the "things you miss while FFing" category---that 'ho Lillian Raines wanted Ed to keep the affair up and sneak around? Flippin' WHAT THE HELL? Mo should've cut the bitch.
    • Absolutely. And I think Eden could play that in a reduced role, or until a recast comes round. I would easily give her a brainy comic love interest in the Spinelli vein regardless of who is playing Joss. I do think Eden works very hard, and can do certain things well. But I would at the least downshift her and then consider writing her out and bringing on someone else. She is not a lead.
    • I am a couple days behind, but is it just me or do some of the glimpses of Martin's nightmare look like a police traffic stop?
    • IIRC, there was fan outcry when viewers realized Donna was going to be killed, although someone more in the know might have a better idea. Donna was always more popular with viewers than she probably should have been, which I credit Stuart for. I do agree she would have been easier to write out than Felicia or Rachel.  Cass and Donna dated briefly during the Malone run (late 1997). http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/cassd.html AW should have invested much more in Quinn than they did. All the pieces were in place for her to, at the very least, have a steady build in importance the way Jessica did on ATWT at that time. AW had moved away from usual patterns by bringing Henrietta and Quinn into the show to diversify the canvas. What always bothers me is the comment an AW person gave to SOD after fan complaints over Quinn's death - essentially, they did not know Quinn had any fans. Says it all.
    • I like that the Martin story hasn't been frequent.  The nightmares are airing only periodically.  Each time, we viewers see more of the accident or whatever happened.  I think we might (or at least I might) be annoyed if we saw the nightmares too often.  At this point, I've become more curious, and so, when it's finally revealed, I think the timing will be just right.
