GH: February 2024 Discussion Thread

We've gone over the bizarre permutations of GH's various attempts to bring back the Brownstone not long ago, lol - Elizabeth's place is supposed to be the very same Brownstone as in classic eras. Frank and Ron attempted to resurrect it briefly in 2014-2015 with Michael and ELQ announcing they were renovating the classic building with great fanfare and it was unrecognizable then, then kind of vanished. Now it's sort of similar to that refurb but still definitely barely recognizable as a 'Brownstone'-type place. Still I can't complain that they are attempting to use a classic location in name only, even if I think it should look more like the classic set.

I do love that Laura has a penthouse set appropriate to her stature - I wondered for a time if it was Todd's old penthouse from OLTL all the way from NYC but I highly doubt that; I assume it's actually Sonny's old penthouse redone. There is karmic justice to me in Mayor Laura having his giant space while he is relegated to a single paltry room tricked up to vaguely give the impression of his old one.

Anna openly acknowledged a few days ago that she was stuck living at the Metro Court again; this is something Finola apparently complained about in the early 2010s and she allegedly made a point of getting her own set at contract time. She got the redone Chandler Mansion from AMC and now it's gone, I hope she gets a new one.

Ava being so chummy with Sonny and Nina is so weird to me. It’s been a while so I may be wrong but didn’t this ho kill Kate and Sonny killed AJ in cold blood because Kate was too lazy to write Ava instead of AJ

Also didn’t NinaStafford literally cut Avery out of Ava?!

Believe me, I've been ranting about it for years.

At least with the Nina/Ava stuff they've discussed and acknowledged in recent times how strange their current BFFship is given their history. I guess I can sort of buy it because they've talked about it and because they're both deeply fucked-up people whose saga goes back decades. But the Sonny, etc. stuff is ridiculous to me. No way.

^^ This. And the change of sets in the 2010's was due to the shïtty camera change, which I hated. Colours all turned yellow except for grey.

It's Erica Kane's penthouse from the Los Angeles years, which was also re-used as Ava's New York penthouse and Lucy's CoeCoe Cosmetics headquarters when Sabrina & Felix visited her to bring back the Nurse's Ball. Each time just re-dressed.

Hahaha no, she didn't cut out the baby. She gave Ava inducing drugs which made Ava go into labor. Then MS/Nina stole the baby and ran to Canada.

I will forever chuckle when I see people type that Nina cut the baby out of Ava's womb. Good grief.

And can they please let Sonny pour himself a bourbon now that he has thrown some glassware while sober? Nina henpecking Sonny about alcohol (while constantly drinking her giant glass of wine) was the only reason he has been teetotaling with his never-ending glass of water with a lemon wedge floating in it. He drank for years and years before Nina. Now he doesn't even have a glass of champagne at a celebration.

Heck, me, too. The info that she did is widespread. Maybe even ubiquitous. Like that rumor that Agnes Nixon loaded AW's core family onto a plane & crashed it & them, all dead.

Also apparently Micheal Easton, at a fan event this weekend, was telling fans that GH has been either gathering their data incorrectly or interpreting it wrong. Speaking of online platforms, whether it is stroke tally or not allowing for bots or multiple accounts, etc. and it caused them to show that Peter August was a success & also that Finn is popular, So, now they know something's wrong but aren't sure how to fix it. If anyone else hears an account of this, please confirm.

And, last but not least, new information about NAC. Instead of being yes he is gone or no he is returning, the latest info - all new & different - is that they don't know. (WHAT?!!) It is up to them but they can't decide. Jesus, Mary & Joseph, they've been trying to decide "their Cassadine problem" for months now. Maybe it's good because now PM will have input. Some want to go ahead & recast & get underway with the new guy. Some want to squeeze as much out of NAC as they can.

    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).

    • I did some research and the story wrapped up with Eric,a caretaker responsible for Georgina's death who then  tried to do away with Laurie but a vision of Georgina spooked him and he smashed into a mirror, dying of glass wounds. So there was a supernatural element. I wonder if the Brody character in the credits was Eric Brody?
