Michael Damian looks good for 60. I wonder if he does botox?

The other Michael looks good but he's graying already. He looks sexier than his brown dye hair job

MG is the one actor on the show that Camryn truly had great chemistry with besides Robert Adamson (and we know  why that would have never worked).

Hm, I may have to break my Y&R fast, out of sheer curiosity. Are Danny and Phyllis chummy now? More importantly, what’s the relationship between Christine and Danny?

I see Paul fans trying to advocate for his return to the show? Why?

A couple years ago when Mal Young was the executive Producer and head writer, he put Doug Davidson on recurring. Paul wasn't on as much anymore so Doug went on Twitter and started ranting about being fired even though he wasn't. He riled his fans up and they started complaining about something that didn't happen.

Doug even said Mal than offered him a few episodes for Chrismas but he declined.

Mal eventually gor fired and Josh Griffith and Tony Morina came on. They brought Doug back but still on recurring. Doug still wasn't happy with his episode count and started ranting and raving again so this regime stopped using him too. Now he just continues saying he was fired and complains Even though it's his mouth that is the reason he isn't used.

Well naturally if you were a fan, you would like to see him back.

i'm no great fan of Paul but he was the longest running actor on the showwhich should count for something.

He agreed to go recurring but was hardly used. When he responded to a  tweet, saying he had no appearances coming up everything came out into the open.

EB complaibed about it and then Paul returned , but once again he was dropped.

He did feel he was badly treated and said so. Maybe not the best move but he had a point.

Paul had been marginalized but he could stilll be used in police matters.

Exactly. There are certainly stories that Paul would have fit quite naturally into. I agree that as the longest running actor left on the show, there is a certain level of respect that he deserved. It also wasn't only Davidson, but also Kristoff St. John that got sent to recurring during Mal's crappy tenure. Both deserved better. I would have been pissed off, too.

Should Davidson have stopped? Probably. Had I been the one making the choices, I wouldn't have considered either talent expendable. Just Sayin'.

Was Christian Le Blanc also made recurring at this time?

Paul was tricky to write for because of Lauralee Bell's absences. Getting rid of the police set didn't help.

But they could have done a mini thing with Lauren where Paul is resentful of Christine's work absences and Lauren lends a friendly ear.

With Michael also out of town they have dinner together and reminisce - cue flashbacks. The evening ends with a quick kiss that turns more passionate. They have to deal with that - just something that could be woven into the story over a few weeks.

LeBlanc is technically still on contract, but I think his appearances were strongly reduced as well. Young tried the "Every episode is one day".

Paul could have been used as Sharon's former father-in-law; an affair with Lauren; as the police chief during investigations. There was still plenty for Paul and the others to do.

Griffith puts too much story on the Newmans. Had they rested Abby Nick or Victoria for a chunk of time plenty of under-utilized characters could still be around...

But why are they subtweeting LLB’s tweet? Don’t they know the Bells are no longer in charge? Why not go directly to the source? It seems like a massive waste of resources.

I read that Michael Damian quipped that he is “no homewrecker”. I wonder if a fling between Danny and Christine had been proposed?

Although Christian LeBlanc is listed in the credits with the contract actors, I believe he's recurring.  Ditto for Kate Linder.  (When Doug Davidson admitted to being recurring, he was also listed as a contract cast member.)  My own belief -- just mine -- is that LeBlanc, St. John, Doug Davidson, and Kate Linder were all four dropped to recurring, but out of respect for the longevity of the actors, they were given the "courtesy" of a contract credit, even though they're merely recurring.  Linder and LeBlanc haven't publicly complained, Kristoff is unfortunately gone now, and Doug Davidson won't hush about being "fired".  That's why I don't think they use him any longer.  He's probably not seen as a "team player".

Kate Linder's 'contract' must guarantee 2 appearances a year.

Isn't there something re insurance that actors have to have a certain number of gigs to maintain their benefits?

If so, I think must be the case with Kate.

The thing is Esther could be used more. She should never have left the Chancellor Estate for a start.

    • Just caught up and these episodes were absolutely amazing! Ambyr Michelle was soooooooooo good, and I felt so bad for Eva, I actually teared up. I love that Andre was nice to her, that was my favorite Andre moment of the series thus far.

I don't need to warn you that if you like this & want to keep it download it. Now, isn't she positively amazing?!!! Well, IMO she is. This is only the first episode that I've got her in. I think there will be more.
    • All true, and all an enormous problem on this show. -- The business stories are maddening because none of it makes any sense, none of it has any connection to the real world. As you said, sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers, and job switching is not a storyline. -- The deck chairs are constantly rearranged on the Titanic -- that's what this show is. Summer, Chelsea, Sally, and Chloe have been in design for how long? And we've never seen ANYTHING from them. Carrying around an iPad isn't enough. BOLD is terrible, but at least they show us dresses from Kohls and jewelry from Amazon. -- I know it's baked into the DNA of the show, but I will never enjoy seeing Jabot and Newman treat each other as if no other companies exist in the entire world. A new magical line of cosmetics is not going to bring down a company like Jabot. -- This is a writing problem, not a budget problem. An enormous amount of cash is not needed to write compelling business stories and show real products. This is writer LAZINESS.
    • Right? GOD FORBID Vanessa be allowed to cut her own mother-in-law down to size, when REVA REVA REVA needs a rival to sharpen her claws on. RME I mean, they could have, but Long and Curlee (like most HW) seemed to forget about characters once they left town. If they mentioned Trish five times in the ten years she was gone, I'd be surprised.  Yeah, Alex didn't really do friendship, other than Lillian. And most of the time, Henry.  And somehow, by the time she leaves, Sonni is some friend of Mo's? Mo is just everyone's default "friend". SMH.
    • I really have no problem with Kai as a character or with the actor. The problem is putting together two very nice people -- Kai and Trina. Neither of them has a bad side, neither of them has a devil on the shoulder, neither of them is impulsive. I think that's a problem in a soap relationship. Yeah, I agree. All this freaking out might make sense if Lulu wanted to do a tabloid expose on BLQ's LOVE CHILD. We have no indication that's the case.
    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.
