Here in Italy The Bold and the Beautiful is the last US soap standing. It's still popular and doing well, but not as huge as it used to be in the 90s an 00s. Back then it reached stellar tv ratings and a monster daily share (35%-, at its peak even 40%). Half the Country watched it and talked about it. Nowadays, airing at the same time slot (1,40 pm), the share is between 17 and 21%. It's successfull, but no more a cultural and intergenerational phenomenon. Since 2015 the tv network that broadcasts the show has shortened the lenght of the episodes. BB airs from monday to saturday (to sunday only in the spring). Each 'new' episode lasts about 10-13 minutes preceded by the last scenes of the day before. It's all about money and spending review. They want to save money with the dubbing and still make profits with lots of commercials inside the show. Fans are outraged. In 2015 episodes were 2 months and half behind US telecasts. Now 15 months behind.

BB is doing well even in streaming. The show gains a solid number of views on the website of the tv network. Episodes are available for at least a month. Under the hashtag #TwittamiBeautiful the show is often trending topic on Twitter.

Other US soaps aired in Italy always suffered from constant changes of time slots and shortened episodes. Some of them were pretty successfull and lasted long (Capitol, Loving, Santa Barbara till the end; Guiding Light and The Young and the Restless were cancelled after 30 and 26 years). Other soaps were less popular and treated even badly by their tv networks and ignored by the press. Some of them lasted almost a decade; others were cancelled after months or a year.

    • Also, can't we assume Jagger's sister is still alive? @carolineg
    • Yes, I said some stupid things but I did not act on them. Yes.
    • I believe Jagger said Stone was in an assisted living community and thriving.  So Jagger wasn't exactly a part of his day-to-day life.  We know absolutely nothing about Stone's mother besides that it's not Karen, so it's possible she's more involved.  On Nightshift it did seem like he was the main caregiver though.
    • And, in fact, that is exactly what I did do, offered a sincere apology, and a year went by without it happening again & during that time I paid an unbelievably high price. And, during that time I did not speak of it. I did not offer a defense. I just took my lumps. I had been too upset to discuss it. I believed that I would not be believed. And, now I have finally made one statement & your interpretation of my actions is that I come back with excuses, defenses & distortions - whatever the heck that means - and, yes, some people choose not to believe me when I have been nothing but truthful ... forever.  So, your statement that all I needed to do was apologize, sorry, not what happened.
    • I wonder what happened to Jagger's son?  BTW, did Jagger ever go back to the Bay Area to see his son the entire time he lived in Port Charles? And all I want for Lois is to modernize her look a bit.  It's cool that she is graying, but now they need to remember she was a rock executive, and have her look a little more contemporary.  More Jenna Lyons, less Six from Blossom.
    • Just because Taggert is so anti Sonny I don't see that working for Lois. I agree with all this.   I still thought Harrington was decent.  He was just completely wrong for the role.  Weirdly being hung up on Karen and Stone was a strange choice too.  They've been dead for years and years and he wasn't married to Karen when she died in a car accident and didn't even show up to Stone's funeral.   Correct and Donna is acting like she didn't PM people like me this info about Drake months before he passed away.
    • Wagger was so bizarre. I still don't care about that dude and I knew what would happen to him from the beginning. But it is crazy they pretend like it didn't matter Sonny stone cold killed a fed. I'm sure they will pick it up in a year or two to try to save face and make it important for some other plot point, like how they forgot all about Austin, Nikolas shooting Hayden and letting Shawn take the fall, etc. He was mediocre and folks acted like he was Douglass Watson because of that one Mulcahey speech! The answer here is the same one to anyone who is familiar with Donna from BITD: She implicitly believes she unofficially works here and has a position of authority in fandom. She does not.
    • I would much rather see Lois with someone young and exciting over being with Taggert.  Rick Webber Jr or have a scandalous affair with Dillon Quartermaine.  Tracy would lose her mind.
    • Well, of course, it's unlikely. But in the what-if fantasy world, I wonder if the actors/characters would work well together.
