Are they moving Matlock to Sundays? I wouldn't mind it after Tracker.

Boston Blue - Series premiere Friday October 17, 10 pm

Sonequa Martin-Green (She played Captain Michael Burnham on Star Trek Discovery)
is now starring in new CBS series "Boston Blue" which debuts October 2025.
This is about a family of Black law enforcement professionals in Boston.

Details on the series (and a video of Sonequa talking about it)  behind the spoiler tag.

Spoiler

Info gleaned from EW and Deadline (disclaimer that some of the details have changed several times as the announcements have rolled out.).

"Boston Blue" is a spinoff of "Blue Bloods".
Bluebloods was a recently-cancelled 14-season series about
an Irish-American family of law enforcement professionals
that was set in New York.

Boston Blue is (obviously) set in Boston.

Boston Blue: Sonequa Martin-Green plays Police Detective Lena Silver.
(The character name was preliminarily announced as "Lena Peters", but now we know it's actually "Lena Silver".)
Lena Silver is from
a family lineage of Black law enforcement professionals in Boston.

In this Boston Blue series, it's *her* family that is featured.

Gloria Reuben is cast as Lena's mother, Mae Silver, Boston's District Attorney and the head of a blended family of law enforcement professionals. Mae is the widow of Judge Ben Silver who was murdered on the courthouse steps.  Mae endeavors to put family ahead of work whenever possible.

Maggie Lawson will play Sarah Silver, the strong-willed and decisive Superintendent of the Boston Police Department. Sarah is the stepdaughter of Mae and the daughter of deceased Judge Ben Silver.
Sarah is the stepsister of Sonequa's character Lena.

Marcus Scribner will play Jonah Silver, a rookie cop, son of Mae, brother of Lena.

Ernie Hudson is cast as a Baptist pastor and the patriarch of the family, father to Gloria Rueben's character Mae, and grandfather to Sonequa Martin-Green's character Lena. (His character name is apparently "Reverend Peters" but this character name is listed differently in various articles.)

Donnie Wahlberg plays his same "Blue Bloods" character Danny Reagan in the new series "Boston Blue", but his character has moved from New York to Boston.
Walberg's Danny and Sonequa's Lena are police partners to each other.
Walhberg is also the executive producer of the Boston Blue series.

Mika Amonsen will play Danny Reagan's son, police patrolman Sean Reagan. (This is a recast of the same character from the original Blue Bloods series.)

Sonequa Martin-Green and Donnie Walhberg talk about Boston Blue:
(on CBS youtube channel - you might need a VPN if outside the USA to see this youtube)

Weird CBS just about eliminated FBI nigbt while the NCIS shows live on although Hawaii was canceled last year for being too expensive.

Matlock and Elsbeth are about the only things I watch on CBS primetime anymore though.

That's very interesting since CBS had Amanda Warren (playing against type at that as delicious diva Camille De Haan on the GOSSIP GIRL reboot)'s black law enforcement show EAST NEW YORK for one season.

East New York was awesome!  Excellent acting and writing.  I was so disappointed when it was cancelled.

And ...  News!  Mehcad Brooks who played the handsome Black detective Jalen Shaw on Law&Order for three seasons - is exiting Law&Order.
Partway through the season, he'll be replaced by ...
David Ajala, who played Cleveland Booker (Captain Burnham's love interest) on Star Trek Discovery.

So awesome. I didn't even get to finish before CBS immediately pulled it from streaming. I felt so angry and so invested. And just the fact that Amanda Warren was showing how versatile as an actress she was...her main character and her character of Camille were completely night and day. THAT'S acting.
