Sutherland’s body of work is similar to Stockard Channing’s in the aspects that both have very distinctive features but somehow manage to morph into roles and create characters that are so distinct, you won’t even recognize them from one role to the next.

@Faulkner Thanks for the Gould article. Unlike Sutherland, Gould often seems forgotten today, aside from occasionally popping up somewhere like SNL. I hope more people appreciate him while he's here.

I did not know Sutherland had a falling out with Altman that was never repaired. I guess that explains why they never worked together again - I don't really see him as an Altman-type actor anyway, but I'm sure he would have slotted in somewhere in Nashville or Short Cuts.

I didn't either. That explains a lot, but it's sad as he was pure magic in M.A.S.H.

Elliott Gould has been around off and on in stuff over the last decade or two, particularly the Ocean's films. I wish he'd do more. He was so brilliant.

A one-hit wonder, but the song's chorus is one of those I randomly remember every now and again and it instantly takes me back to a certain, more innocent time being 11 years old when it came out.

Shifty Shellshock, Crazy Town Frontman and ‘Butterfly’ Singer, Dies at 49

For some reason, I thought he had passed already. Maybe I’m confusing him with someone else. Hmmm. That song was ubiquitous and 49 is far too young, even if he clearly lived his life on the edge.

Maybe you're thinking of Keith Flint, lead singer of Prodigy, another '90s group that had a hit or two? He died in 2019.

I loved him in both of those, too. Also in every Christopher Guest movie that he was part of. As a soap fan his part in that crazy cadre that did MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN & of course its sequel.

The great Martin Mull has passed away. Personally, I loved him best from Roseanne and Clue. May he rest peacefully.

As if life wasn't hard enough these days. I've been a fan for my whole life. Ever since I saw him in Clue and on Roseanne. And so much else. Fernwood 2Nite as well. Any time you saw him you felt happy and content. I did not know for a long time that he was also a great musician. He was so underappreciated; I hope he knew how many loved his work.

Oh dang, Martin Mull was so funny in every role he portrayed, from the cad boss in Mr. Mom to the shut-in who falls for Dorothy on The Golden Girls. May he R.I.P.
