So they have had a 70 year run on TV so far plus the radio soaps starting decades before. So even if a show ends, it doesnt erase their history So id say given that Nancy on ATWT was on the show from April 2, 1956-June 2010 that she is the longest running character Scott may have began in 1965 but he was off the show for years at a time, multiple times. Scotty has been around since 1965 and predates Laura, Monica, Tracy, etc. Since Scotty debuted prior to the premiere of Days of our Lives, that makes him the longest-running character in Daytime.
