I was so disappointed in Brazil. I expect better...they had me at work (we have plasma tvs) yelling at the screen like a football fan.

 

And I loved that half of the staff sat in the bar to watch Mexico play. Even  our kitchen ladies got into the act. World Cup...bring team members together.

 

So has anyone seen the shady World Cup ads they have been running?

Mexico beat the German machine and it was a great game! But the match of the tournament so far imo was Portugal v Spain. 3-3! Cristiano Ronaldo was on fire. He's 32, it is perhaps his last WC, and he is not playing games.

Wow at Japan’s victory over Colombia.

Now Senegal beats Poland. An African team with a black coach (the only one in the tournament).

It's been a Russian national obsession. 

 

Before the WC even began, I remember reading an article that mentioned some Russian government minister admonishing Russian women not to have sex with foreigners and if they were going to have sex with players, at least let them be of the same nationality.

On the heels of that announcement, there was a Russian sports minister who advised women to have sex with foreign players and get pregnant so that Russia can raise lots of potential top-flight future athletes. 

Both were serious about what they were saying!

Iceland is losing, and there are enough people posting super-Nordic-looking guys on this board, but this player Rúrik Gíslason is exceptional.

Germany is another victim of the defending champ’s curse and is out of the World Cup. South Korea played amazing defense. If only Nigeria had played like that against Argentina yesterday...

I never thought for a moment that Germany would lose to South Korea! But frankly they didn't deserve to go through.

 

It was fun though to see the Mexican fans celebrate even though they lost 0-3.
