I remember hearing there was another Peggy but didn't know the details...It kind of sounds similar to what Heather Tom did years later when she first left in 97 and then they had that other Victoria for 3 months and then HT returned by the end of the year....

SOD's covers got lazy and tacky around 2015 when they decided to use the same template each and every week, just switching it up between orange, blue or purple. A couple months back, the page count dropped from 96 to 72. They originally predicted SOD would fold in 2012; I'm actually amazed it's still around in 2018.

I'm letting my subscription run out this Spring. I literally feel like I'm reading the same articles over and over when you have repeated interviews about Melissa Reeves loving life in Tennessee and doing a commute to California for DAYS. We get it. The talent pool is only 4 shows. The only interesting articles are throwbacks to cancelled soaps and old-school times, but even I can only read the same blips about Luke & Laura's wedding, the Eterna storyline, Marlena possessed, Reva cloned, or any other tales of yesteryear for so many times before it gets too redundant to bother revisiting yet again.

If you're gonna put Brenda Dickson on the cover, let's see her as her delusional current blow-up doll look, still complaining about Bill Bell, relishing in her Soap Opera Digest Outstanding Villainess trophy from the 1980's, telling us how she still gets recognized for her eleven-and-a-half years on daytime television.

This thread reminds me of how annoyed I am that I threw away so many vintage soap magazines, and then lost so many more when I moved.

Back in the day we were blessed with a wonderful set of mags, the best of which were Daytime TV, Afternoon TV, Daily TV Serials, and Rona Barrett's Daytimers. They were packed with interviews, critiques, book-length biographies of actors and their characters, and so much more. I always wanted to read them from cover to cover.

Today's soap "press" is worthless. The magazines are mainly filler, nothing worth buying or even reading, as we get any relevant news directly from the internet.

Thank you  for this list. I actually agree with some of the choices.

However, anyone from SOD who compiled a list like this and did NOT mention Judith Light (who took over as OLTL's Karen Wolek from the mediocre Kathryn Breech in 1977) is not an authority I would trust.

    • Ah okay, thats what I thought. I was hoping I missed the announcement somewhere. Thanks for the clarification.
    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.
