May 13, 20169 yr Member Melissa Salmons wrote on Twitter that she has left Days, of her own accord, and estimated that her last script will air on Halloween. Geez this soap is still 6 months ahead in taping. I think there's more changes to come at DAYS. Do you have any scoops? I remember you use to post teasers. Those were fun to guess.
May 13, 20169 yr Member They are hiring writer's assistants who are probably paid close to minimum scale (Klein, Topits, Quan). It's obvious that they are going to get rid of the high paid veteran writers. Dunn is going, Griffith is out. Salmons out. See the trend..... My guesses for who's next Milstein moves into Dunn's breakdown role I think it's possible Broderick, Cherrill and the Cullitons will go. Draughon has confirmed on FB that he's still there. I've also heard that Annie Schoettle rejoined Days in October when she left YR..but not sure if that's true Edited May 13, 20169 yr by RavenWhitney
May 28, 20169 yr Member I just noticed on the 5/23 episode that Randy Dugan is no longer listed as coordinating producer for DAYS, was this recent or did I miss something awhile back? never mind, the name was in a different spot than expected. Was it always after the writers? Edited May 28, 20169 yr by jcar03

For the two episodes she has listed, the credited scriptwriters are Michele Val Jean (April 25) and Jack Smith (May 6). Very odd....
May 30, 20169 yr Member Indeed very odd. Maybe she is a script editor on trial!? Or she simply made up these credits. LOL
May 30, 20169 yr Author Administrator Or she simply made up these credits. LOL I'll go with that. LOL
May 31, 20169 yr Member Anyone can add anything on IMDb. Plus, once added it is hard to get removed...
June 8, 20169 yr Member Unless he's a Consulting Producer, there had to have been some big reason for hiring him. Given his years of experience and working on projects in both the UK and US, I assume he does not come cheap. I also don't see his outlook on storytelling meshing with JFP and Pratt, this had to have been forced by Sony or CBS. It's bizarre that someone who once ran Drama for the BBC and the person who rebooted Dr. Who is now a producer on an American daytime soap, and may very well be its next EP. I don't see Pratt wanting to take orders from someone, so I wonder if they're trying to force him out - Mal Young is not the submissive type. With JFP, I wonder if she plans on retiring soon or moving into an executive role at Sony or CBS, but they could want her forced out as well. This is just interesting and a totally out of the blue hiring. But I guess it helps merge two soap worlds that people like myself and Carl both follow, so that's exciting at least... @UK LAW What do you think he'll do at Y&R, like the kinds of stories? Not UKLAW, but I don't think Young has a definitive storytelling tendency - some accused him of making Brookside more sensationalized, but a lot of what he did eventually ended up becoming the norm on British soaps in the 90s. With the help of Matthew Robinson, he also helped breathe new life into EastEnders in the late 90's when the show was starting to decline and was in need of a revamp. Under his time as Controller of Continuing Drama Series at the BBC, EastEnders arguably had its last definitive golden era, particularly during John Yorke's (who himself would end up replacing Young as Controller of Continuing Drama Series until he left the BBC for good in 2012) time as Series Producer from 2000-2002. Things did fall apart at the end of Young's time there, but there were wider issues at play. As a whole though, the 1998-2002 era of EE will always hold a very special place in my heart. well Mal Young is now EP of Y&R
June 14, 20169 yr Author Administrator Y&R: - Christopher Dunn first listed as Breakdown Writer on June 14 Since DAYS writes so far in advance, he'll continue to be listed until probably August/September (whenever the new regime starts).
June 14, 20169 yr Member Love Chris Dunn's work. Hopefully, he'll remain once Pratt/Thomson are gone.
