August 24, 201510 yr Member I admire SN for his optimism...but I would be lying if I said I share his sentiment. The truth is, I think we are near the finish line -- for DAYS, and for soaps in general.
August 24, 201510 yr Member OMG, I love how he straight up SLAMMED GH for their [@#$]cked up Nurses Ball! I said, “Are you kidding me?” No, not for me. I felt slapped by that experience and I can’t believe that most of those actors went ahead with that plan. They are so talented and worth so much more than that. August 24, 201510 yr Member Glad someone made that accurate comment about GH's 50th celebration in the press. I wish some people would stop pretending like it was actually any good. But anyway, sorry, I've never been a Patch fan...
August 24, 201510 yr Member Glad someone made that accurate comment about GH's 50th celebration in the press. I wish some people would stop pretending like it was actually any good. But anyway, sorry, I've never been a Patch fan... Don't apologize for speaking the truth. Folks acted like that sh!t was great stuff when, in reality, it was more of the same junk heavily concealed by GH vets. Now that, they've allowed most of the vets to become employed by other shows and/or killed off the characters, there's no hiding the filth that is now GH. Nothing can conceal this rancid sh!t, which is why the ratings are at record lows for any soap ever! The show has been horrible for 3+ years now but many didn't want to notice it because TIIC "brought back the vets".

The truth is, I think we are near the finish line -- for DAYS, and for soaps in general. Even though these shows are dead in the water, do you think the genre could revive itself with a new model? I've always believed that it could and online too.
August 25, 201510 yr Member Do I think soaps could revive themselves with a new model? I used to...but not anymore. Not when primetime TV and the streaming shows have co-opted (for better or worse) so many of daytime soaps' attributes, outpacing daytime in the process. Don't get me wrong, serialized drama will ALWAYS be around in some kind of shape, form or fashion (to quote the late Bobby Womack). But I think soap opera, as a genre, is just doomed to go the way of anthology shows and TV westerns. Edited August 25, 201510 yr by Khan
August 25, 201510 yr Member Understandable. But I do think (and maybe it's false hope) that someone will come along and revive them with a newer, fresher model.
