March 19, 201510 yr Member I actually can kind of see why Ryan Carnes would work as Phil: part of the conflict between him and Jessie in their marriage is that it involved an older woman married to a younger man, which of course carried a huge stigma back then. I can kind of buy him in place of Roy Thinnes. And not gonna lie, I could kind of see JT channeling his inner John Beradino in that picture. I buy it.
March 19, 201510 yr Member I was sure I was going to click that link and see Beet Faced Billy as Phil, Stafford as Steve, and Howarth in a frightwig as Jessie. Thank goodness for small favors. The trio carefully studied the premiere episode, which was shot live and low-budget. "At one point you can see the cables and the camera guy in the background," Herbst says. "And they only had five or six actors in the whole show. Today, between our contract players and our recurring group, we have over 70. It's wild how much things have changed." And for the worse. Unless your name is Doug Marland, you can't handle that many players. Ron can't even write for 7, let alone 70.
March 19, 201510 yr Member Oh hell no. Hell no. Now he's gonna try to !@#$%^&*] up old GH.
March 19, 201510 yr Member Like I said, I actually said this could wind up fine. He's done other anniversary shows that have been good compared to what he usually writes (damning with faint praise, I know---I'M the one who hasn't watched regularly in like a year and a half, so I get it!), and in any case, it should be a hell of a lot better than using the anniversary as an excuse to kill off AJ (although I DID appreciate the opportunity to see my girl Tamara again ). Sorry, guys. If I'm the Pollyanna here, think of me metaphorically throwing lollipops at the heads of all the crusty curmudgeons here (that means you, Carl ). Doesn't mean I'm not scared of what might happen or anything, I just...have a little more faith in this case. *shrug* Edited March 19, 201510 yr by MissLlanviewPA

I've said this before, I think, but it's weird how it seems as if there is so much happening on GH, with so many people; and yet, if you look close enough, you can see how little is actually going on. March 19, 201510 yr Member It's all in the execution. This may sound fine as an idea but I think years of Carlivati's brilliant soapy goodness has proven that he hypes better than he delivers. Could this be a surprisingly good anniversary? Let's hope so.

Could this be a surprisingly good anniversary? Let's hope so. What I want is for them to just reuse the scripts. More than anything I want to avoid any "cute" or "funny" attempts to show us that they are in 1963, like, "Oh, have you heard about that band from England?" "They'll never make it *wink* *wink*"
March 19, 201510 yr Member I thought I was reasonable by my standards... Eh, I guess so. Look, I think Ron, for all his faults, often has enough dignity to at least pay tribute to a show he's writing for at least an anniversary episode, even if it's often somewhat shallow otherwise. It may only bring people like me back briefly, but you know, a broken clock is right twice a day and all that. And honestly, without trying to start some huge debate here, I think Ron started out his career as a head writer fine, it's as time went on that we found up both how much he loves camp and repeating stories. It was a gradual thing for me, and I'll admit took me longer than most of you for me to really turn on him forever. Anyway, back to flinging lollipops. Edited March 19, 201510 yr by MissLlanviewPA

I'll be the first to eat crow if it turns out to be a typical Ron camp fest, believe me.
March 19, 201510 yr Member Why do I feel like Luke is gonna be in the flashbacks as a kid somewhere? From 1901? Doubt it!
