Frost and Jennifer Lynch talk Lynch, Peaks, and Lynch's unmade Unrecorded Night series for Netflix. I do hope they publish the scripts as mentioned.

It is nice (and sad) to hear Frost confirm something was 'in the wind' for more TP.

Thanks. A very moving article, especially Jennifer talking about having to grieve with the world, and the advice Isabella gave her.

I have seen pathetic people claim over the years that Lynch was a Trump supporter. I hope they read that article.

Oddly, the performance of Rebekah's that sticks with me most other than MD is this harrowing rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner from Richard Kelly's cursed epic Southland Tales. (I really dislike the film unlike a lot of cult film buffs, but this rendition is certainly more relevant than ever)

You're right, that is a dark rendition. And fitting.

I watched most of the movie a few years ago (didn't get to see the end). I didn't love it, although I was glad to see Cheri Oteri getting a chance.

@DRW50 this is sourced from Empire Magazine, per Frost confirming TP is done. It also gives insight into Lynch's own thoughts on the ending of Season 3, which match yours long ago (and some of mine):

Quote

“We had talked a little bit about where a fourth season might go, but with David having left us, it’s hard to imagine doing anything beyond this,” said Frost. “It certainly feels like it closed the circle.”

He continued, “Initially, David and I were in two minds about how to end The Return. I felt that Cooper going back and rescuing Laura, then having the mystery of her death disappear, might be an extraordinary way to bring us back to ground zero. But David said, ‘He has to pay a price for what he’s tried to do.’ Sheryl Lee was incredible. This is the moment when the full horror comes back to this poor soul; it’s the price Laura Palmer pays for Cooper’s attempted good deed. That was the end of this story.”

I do think they would've gone forward with Season 4 eventually had Lynch lived and moved past that ending, but it's good to hear more of Lynch's own perspective which he rarely would offer openly on narrative.

Thanks for sharing, @Vee . I'm sorry that Bobby and Shelley and Audrey never truly had endings but for the most part I think the show ended in a way that makes sense for the universe Lynch and Frost created. If Frost doesn't want to move forward, I respect that choice.

I suspect they would've gotten more had Season 4 been able to happen. I just assume they're doing better and Bobby and Shelly sorted things out.
