What a week. RIP. @DRW50

Her husband spoke to a B-52 fan group on FB (Julee subbed for Cindy Wilson in the group in the '90s):

Quote

For those of you who go back, I thought you might want to know that I said goodbye to my wife, Julee Cruise, today. She left this realm on her own terms. No regrets. She is at peace. Having had such a varied music career she often said that the time she spent as a [B-52] filling in for Cindy while she was having a family was the happiest time of her performing life. She will be forever grateful to them. When she first stepped up to the mic with Fred and Kate she said it was like joining the Beatles. She will love them always and never forget their travels together around the world. I played her Roam during her transition. Now she will roam forever. Rest In Peace, my love, and love to you all.

OMG. I heart Julee Cruise. I always cry during one of her songs. And the Rockin' Back Inside My Heart? Sure, it sounds so bubblegum, right? Little do people know the darkness that's about to approach, and they're immediately sucked in.

I knew about some of the stuff surrounding her in the revival, but I'm glad she got to come back, however briefly. I had no idea of her struggles. I hope she is at peace. She was the purest conduit of emotion in Twin Peaks, the purest, along with Sheryl Lee, conduit of Lynch's vision. Her scenes, especially the performance in the killer reveal episode, are among the finest works on TV.

Here is her SNL performance, where she (called in at the last minute to replace Sinead O'Connor) was one of the few bright lights of a very ugly episode.

Awww ... this hurts my heart. Julee was simply amazing and I'm glad to see David Lynch paying tribute to her in his own way. I didn't realize her struggles with lupus and depression until recently. Thanks for posting. 🙂

Yes, I forgot to post about this the other day. She was very forthcoming in Brad Dukes' oral history.

That's so awesome. It was funny to hear Brett Goldstein's story of Twin Peaks and how scared he was. 😁 But yeah, Twin Peaks is the shiznit!
