RIP Goddess Maya. She's one of the few reasons why I majored in English. A chapter/short story from her book I Know Why a Caged Bird Sings was one of the many works to inspire me to truly follow my passion to write. To gain confidence and voice. To captivate and educate. Such an astounding woman....

Some websites are publishing this poem as one of hers, as one of her best poems that people should read. This poem, called Clothes, is quite an ugly poem, one that is a long-running hoax, and has nothing to do with her, as she pointed out about ten years ago.
