Since they are in a different format, I just attempted AMC preemptions for 1994-1995. For these years, we will not have the exact times of special reports (when they air inside an episode, say from 120-126PM). We also only have the percentage of affiliates airing the episode (not the #). The preemption dates can be figured out quickly enough as I just did with AMC, but the reasons (whenever I research this more fully) will only be available for rated shows (no longer have the titles on un-rated special reports, but of course they usually are just titled ABC Special Report, so you can figure that to be the case usually). I didn't check on preemption reasons, so for now the full preemption dates are the ones that are fully blank. Just wanted to try out one soap to see how it went. So here you go, the AMC 1994-1995 preemptions, covering the two years of the OJ case:

All My Children
1/17/94
4/22/94 1-138 (38 minutes); 138-2PM PBO (75 percent affs)
4/26/94 1-133 (33 minutes); 133-2PM PBO (74 percent affs)
5/23/94 1-149 (49 minutes)
6/17/94 (52 minutes) (8 minute preemption during episode)
6/20/94 1-130 & 145-2 (45 minutes); 130-145 PBO (74 percent affs)
6/28/94 (41 minutes) (19 minute preemption during episode)
6/30/94
7/1/94
7/5/94
7/6/94
7/7/94
7/8/94
7/22/94
8/19/94 1-130 (30 minutes)
9/16/94 (50 minutes) (10 minute preemption during episode)
11/24/94
11/25/94
1/2/95
1/24/95 1-122 (22 minutes)
1/25/95
1/30/95
1/31/95 101-2 (59 minutes)
2/6/95 1-153 (53 minutes)
2/27/95 1-154 (54 minutes)
4/19/95
4/20/95 (53 minutes) (7 minute preemption during episode)
8/10/95 1-130 (30 minutes)
8/16/95 110-2 (50 minutes)
9/4/95
9/26/95 1-129 (29 minutes; listed as breakout; 83 percent affs)
10/16/95 127-2 (33 minutes)
11/8/95 124-2 (36 minutes); 1-124 PBO (80 percent affs)
11/23/95
11/24/95

1978 WEEKLY NIELSEN CHARTS NOW POSTED, PLUS A CHECKLIST OF NIELSEN RATINGS DATA STILL MISSING SINCE 12/26/77...

The 1978 weekly ratings data is now available here: http://www.jason47.com/days/ratings1978.html

In addition, here is a checklist of the 10 weeks of Nielsen ratings data still missing since the week of 12/26/77:

Two Full Regular Weeks (2): 4/10/78, 4/17/78. These two weeks are missing the final ratings/shares/affiliates/clearances and partial preemptions data. Full preemption data is confirmed by comparing the # of telecasts in the preceding and succeeding books. ATWT had one preemption during the two missing weeks.

Two Partial Regular Weeks (2): 10/19/87, 12/14/87. These two weeks have ratings data, unconfirmed but likely to be accurate, from a SON post in 2019. These weeks are missing the shares/affiliates/clearances and partial preemptions data. Full preemption data is confirmed by comparing the # of telecasts in the preceding and succeeding books.

Fast Weekly Weeks (6): 3/20/78, 4/24/78, 6/26/78, 8/28/78, 12/25/78, 8/24/81. These six weeks are all missing the preliminary ratings and full/partial preemptions data.

All weekly Nielsen ratings charts from 1978-Present are now posted here, except for 1988 and 1989, which will be posted in the next few months: http://www.jason47.com/days/nielsensweekly.html

I have just posted the Another World 1994-1995 preemptions in the 1990's ratings thread, so I will be adding the rest of the soaps in that thread when time permits. Of course, as you know, alphabetically next is one of your soaps, BB, so check there for that data soon! (Oops, I just saw ATWT is next, but BB is coming soon after).

Yet somehow is not cracking the top 5. Y&R, the ABC big three, Days are all jockeying for position in the top 5.

I know supercouple Days was popular, but I don't believe supercouple Days was a better show than Marland As the World Turns.

March 3, 1988 Y&R Nina Arvesen debut.

March 15, 1988 Y&R Chance's birth.

Writer's strike began March 7, 1988. We'll start seeing the impact of the strike soon.

B&B one year and clearance hasn't really moved (94% to 93%).

Feb. 29-March 4, 1988, on GH -- The fallout from Robert and Duke returning Anna to safety. Will Anna survive? Does Anna want Robert, as Duke comes to believe? Will Duke be able to break free from the mob? Also, is Frisco alive?

    • I know at one point they were on Hulu & i-Tunes. I just checked it on JustWatch.com & it indicates 1 season on Prime Video & on AppleTV. Have fun!
    • That era is so weird...they made a big deal out of all three of those characters and then they just..disappeared! Not that I am complaining. We talk about the bad out of character writing for Alex under JFP..but this was one example that may have led them to write her being so obsessive with Nick.  WHY would Alex accept Flock of Seagulls guy as her brother? They had her in one scene (setting up the Alan return) complain that Alan abandoned her...she blackmailed him into leaving town and she had been angry at him for helping Brandon with Lujack and also using Spaulding for that dumb dreaming death thing. Endless scenes of her with Simon, I can't believe Bev wasn't bored to death! I would also add Pam writing the scene where she lets Ms. Sally die in front of her to protect Alan and  the writing for Alex could be screwy even before JFP.
    • On this day 34 years ago the final episode of Dallas and came in at an astonishing #2 in the ratings after two straight seasons of weak ratings. Interesting Knots was #27 for that week as well:

    • Thank you for clearing that up. I wasn't watching GL regularly yet at that point, but seems to me I should have remembered the big wedding after Leslie's death (which I do remember) described in the profile. Is there a web archive of SOD summaries, or are referring to your own personal collection?
    • I was bummed that 2.0 ended because Mcpherson (headwriter) had really set up some interesting stories and we never got to find out where the stories would go once they resumed production on 'season 2'. I remembered the EP (Ginger Smith) and a lot of the stars gave a lot of credit to McPherson being able to come in on very short notice and come up with stories/plots (I think it was a very short turnaround time of a few weeks).  It was nice that she got to redeem herself after her year long Days stint was not well reviewed/liked.

    • It seems like a setup for failure to review a single episode of a soap, but Cleveland Amory was a foolish man.  His taste was so predictable, that one wondered why bother reviewing a medium he so clearly disliked. (found on Facebook retro TV group) Another case in point of his misogyny from his review of Dark Shadows (Can you imagine the magazine with the widest circulation in the country insulting its customer in this way today?)

    • They could easily be re-created, or even re-shot in different ways, especially if they were re-shooting scenes at some point, as well.
    • The Ted recast really is a shame because now they won't be able to do flashbacks to the best scenes the show has done to date.
    • That would be an AMAZING twist.
