I don't think we can fault actors who may see the problems in the writing or stories in their past and want to return to rectify the situation or at the very least, hope their latest return will erase some sort of bad taste from said issues. There's always the chance (and likelihood) that other return trips will go more smoothly. Essentially what I'm trying to say is that I don't think it's as simple as them wanting a paycheck, I'm sure it's somewhat about protecting their legacy, both personally and as their character.

I've got old Soap Opera Digests from 1991 where he's openly complaining about the writing. He'll complain and he'll continue to return. No biggie

How is an actor complaining about the writing and still returning any different from us complaining about the writing and still watching?

At least the actor is getting money out of it, unlike us.....
