First off, it was not the story of Jackie Robinson! It was about Branch Rickey and what he and the other white people went thru during this time. We had no idea until the last 7 minutes of the film as to why Rickey was so passionate about blacks in baseball, and then that was a lousy stupid paragraph about how he single-handedly didn't stop racism in baseball 40 years prior. We really didn't see Jackie's struggles. He hardly went thru anything while they spent quite a bit of time showing us how inconvenienced white people were by this whole "ordeal". If you ask me, going by this film, Jackie had it pretty darn good. Racism was/is brutal, ugly, debasing, terrorizing and we didn't see any of that. Yeah, we got a coach screaming THAT derogatory word at Robinson while he was at bat, but outside of that, there really was nothing, which is sad because Bozeman is a wonderful actor, and it robbed him of the Oscar for which he should have been [but would not be] nominated. They really gave him nothing to work with. You will hear more about Harrison Ford, who should stick with Indiana Jones, than you will about Bozeman. Chadwick Bozeman!!!! The name alone means this man SHOULD be a star!!!!!

Then they had to show the dumb audience that Racism is learned by having this cute little innocent boy go to a game with this father because he loves baseball so much. He's super excited but all his father does, before the game begins, is yell "we don't want you here ******...go home ******...you don't belong here ******" until his son finally get its and deviates from enjoying baseball to begin yelling - wait for it..******. I felt so enlightened. PUKE!

Let's not blame Racism, one of the most heinous things in human history on the world itself. It's only a selected few and they embarrassed us all. PUKE ^50,000,000

When I looked back at the other spectators, I think I got it. The average age in the theater was about 85, and I was one of about 15 black people in a full theater that seats about 300. Many of those people were "there" for this, and we can't offend anyone - can we? Even though I went to the matinee, I want my $5.75 back, now!

Bozeman, and Beharie have quite the future ahead of them, but I don't expect too many nonTyler Perry movies being tossed their way. Beharie is quite a lovely talented young woman and the next time a magazine dares to feature the up and coming starlets, she and Jurnee Smollett better be on the cover or the offending rag will certainly hear from me! Count on it!!!!!

Remember The Hurricanes was much better!

First and foremost, Chadwick Boseman is SO fine!

Secondly, I loved him and Nicole Beharie as Jackie and Rachel. They were simply wonderful together and I couldn't get enough of them.

As for the movie. I did enjoy it, but I can definitely see where you are coming from. There were a few heavy handed moments where I rolled my eyes at the screen, but overall I did enjoy it. I wish we had more focus on Jackie's family and how the black community around him felt about what he was doing. Like you said the focus was primarily on his teammates and Branch Rickey.

Favorite scene was when Jackie slammed the bat against the wall over and over again and started screaming. Totally felt that pain, it felt real!

I pray Bozeman and Behaire have a long future in Hollywood ahead of them and not relegated to Tyler Perry's trash. :(

Also wanted to punch that twit in the face when she gave away Jackie and Rachel's tickets bc Rachel used the white restroom.
