Members MontyB
I'm not so sure about Ross. Seems like Ross would be be in his 70's now

Members All My Shadows
It lasted 9 years lol It was highly-rated in the key demos on NBC and the highest rated show period on the Direct TV channel it was on. It was cancelled because cancelling soaps was the cool thing to do in the late 2000s and because Direct TV only wanted it for subscribers.
Members ~bl~
If AMC would hire Robert Newman for Ross Chandler they would have to deSORAS the character by many years. When it comes to either show going to DTV that wouldn't be a help to many as DTV is only available in the US. If it went on a cable channel there would be a higher possibility that it was also carried in Canada.
Members MontyB
Highly rated in the key demos? No disrespect, if that's the case it would still be on the air. Anyway, didn't mean to offend any Passions fans, but I'm being honest. Let's just hope that All My Children never ever touches on the occult, witches and anything named Hecuba. Edit: typo Let's hope it never goes the DTV route, albeit I love DTV. If and when it these shows go to cable, let's hope it a HD channel.

Members All My Shadows
It rated higher than the P&G soaps in 18-49 and was usually in the top half in 18-34. I'm no Passions fan in the least, but I can at least recognize its strengths (and, also, facts). And if you were turned off by witches and the occult on Passions, then you clearly weren't the intended audience. I hope you never tried to watch Dark Shadows, either. Members MontyB
I loved Dark Shadows. I've seen every episode. My problem with Passions was it was poorly written and executed. It just seem like no story would end. I had to turn delete it from my Tivo. Why the hell was it named Passion in the first place? Don't get started on that horrible theme song, LOL!! Dark Shadows on the other hand, bad acting aside, had focus and told a story the way it should be. This is JMO. Ok not going to discuss this anymore. Don't want to get a citation from the posting police.
Members jfung79
I liked the theme song, but I agree Passions's stories didn't end. My problem with it is it seemed really lowest common denominator and just had people standing there with their shirts off talking about the same thing for a week or two weeks at a time. Also, no, it did not have higher ratings than the P&G soaps in Women 18-49. It did have higher ratings than the P&G soaps in Women 18-34. But its household rating and Total Viewers were super basement level, way below anywhere GL even fell to at the end. As for Robert Newman, he'd be great to have on either AMC or OLTL, but I am glad he wants the old cast to get their shot first! Good man! Either place he went, he would be reunited with another GL alum (Jerry verDorn or Jordi Vilasuso/Vincent Irizarry). I do see some potential chemistry between him and Susan Lucci, but I don't think Erica needs yet *another* new man, so if they were to be paired, is there any character who would make sense recast from Erica's past? Members DRW50
I'm pages behind but that logo is nice. I like the retro style. It reminds me of Mary Hartman, but also of the general soap feel of that era. I think the 60s or 70s are what modern day soaps should try to emulate (adapting to a modern world while still keeping their essence), so I like the idea of the logo showing this old and new combination. Members EnglishTea
Robert Gentry is only two years younger than David Canary, but the character of Ross was supposed to be at least a decade younger than Adam. There is twenty years difference between David Canary and Robert Newman, but with his salt/pepper hair, I think RN could easily slip into a role that has been vacant (but would be welcome with connections) character. Plus, it makes more sense to hire an actor, who can play older, for longevity purposes on a soap opera.
Members All My Shadows
I'm looking at SON's Ratings Archive as I type, and just looking at one year (2006), Passions was quite often ahead of ATWT and GL in 18-49, and sometimes higher than B&B. It regularly ranked #2 or #3 in 18-34. The receipts are in the Ratings Archive. Back to AMC, though. I think RN is too young for Ross, but he looks old enough for Jeff. I'm not of the "Bring back Bobby Martin!" mindset, but if they were ever to go there...then yeah, he'd be perfect. If they wanted to pull a Coronation Street and bring back a random character from the old days, he could be Dan Kennicott and shake Brooke's tree. Members jfung79
I am also looking in the Ratings Archive. The facts speak for themselves. Week to week variations even out The "Season to Date" ratings show Passions same in the Women 18-49 demos as ATWT and GL. For the SEASON September 18, 2006 through September 2, 2007 HH 1. Y&R 4.2 2. B&B 3.0 3. GH 2.7 4. AMC 2.5 5. OLTL 2.4 6. ATWT 2.3 6. DAYS 2.3 8. GL 2.1 9. PSNS 1.5 Women 18-49 Rating 1. Y&R 2.0 2. GH 1.9 3. DAYS 1.6 3. OLTL 1.6 5. AMC 1.5 6. B&B 1.3 7. PSNS 1.2 7. ATWT 1.2 7. GL 1.
Members skiman12082004
Passions definitely wasn't for everyone and I was a fan. They aspired to be different and to appeal to a certain demo and I think they succeeded. I think they just got screwed from NBC and Direct TV. Members jfung79
No they didn't get screwed, NBC pushed them and got rid of Another World and Sunset Beach for them.
