HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

AMC has used Pine Valley High as a regular setting/set consistently each decade since its debut, so establishing that the teenage characters are in high school does not bother me in the least. Having teenage characters period does not bother me in the least because soaps have had major teen characters since the 50s.

SMG Kendall?

No, I was thinking she was going to be as unbearable and annoying as AM's Kendall.

Same. It doesn't bother me either. I just hope the teens are involved in a good story and hope they're not running multi-million dollar companies within a year. I'm also really tired of the teen pregnancy storylines. And if Miranda gets raped, I think I'm done.

For once, I'd prefer if soaps did school stories like Degrassi. Yes, they address social issues, but I'd rather see Miranda getting into a fight with a girl over a part in the school play. Or running for class president and going about getting the position in a shady way like a real politician. Stressing out about classes and college applications. A bullying story maybe. Just normal, everyday teen issues that are not typical social issues.

I agree that I am over the same teen soap tropes: pregnancy, rape, drugs, and drinking.

Degrassi does all of the above (they just covered suicide) -- both the heavy and the light issues that teens deal with -- and I agree they would be a great model for the AMC teen stories.

TeeHee.

No, never! She's gonna be like Erica "Rica" Kane, bitch.

Pfft,

I'd make Spike gay and make him the next Erica. IJS.

Re: Miranda: She sounded like a Kathy or Jenny in the audition script, to be honest OR in other words she sounded like what I'd expect a child of Tad and Dixie/Krystal to act like. That's probably the Bianca & Mona elements IF she is anything like that when she airs.

How old should Spike and all the other kids be by now? Damn, the Kanes had a ton of children in their fold when the show ended. I want gay Spike crushing on badass AJ.

I'd actually go for that. LOL

But with a name like 'Spike', I think he'd be destined for the leather daddy/bear scene.

Maybe make it Ian instead. smile.png

Spike/AJ/Miranda triangle?

A gay man named Spike sounds like perfect soap opera.

I'd actually like AJ to be a good boy (unlike JR / Adam) and for Miranda to be a bitch. Miranda tries to poison (not literally) the good boy while crushing like hell over him.

Meanwhile, Kendall's fabulous gay son also crushes on angelic AJ, making for a sickening triangle the likes of soap has never seen.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

OK, Spike it is.

Exactly. Erica Kane herself was a teen when the show started.

I can't imagine a child of Chandler being a good boy especially with the issues AJ should have: Lived in Llanview for a while, back and forth between Babe/Jamie and JR, dead mother, drunk father. BUT like I said, if it wasn't for that mutual birthday line, I would have thought the AJ & Miranda audition script was for Spike (or Ian) and Jenny (or Kathy).

OMG yes. Spike and Miranda both want AJ, so they scheme and plot, but he's turned off by both of them, so...

It would kind of be be funny do the turn around. Miranda and Spike both devious little bitches and good boy AJ finally gets fed up of their games.

ETA: Somebody asked what age Spike should be. He should be 2 years younger than Miranda but he can get a lil extra SORAS.
