HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I'm pretty sure you're expecting her to be the cover girl for People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful list tongue.pngtongue.pngtongue.pngtongue.pngtongue.png

Her before Sarah Jessica Seabiscuit (er, Parker).

Wow, I'm a cruel person.

I don't take issue with her doing it, I just imagined lots of angry exclamation marks and >:-(!!! faces in red ink like my French teacher used to make on my homework.

Ha that's what I imagine too. I love that he claims she would circle a word on page 2 and then one on page 32 that was the same and say "too repetitive!!" (Hrmm a part of me likes the idea of school marm Aggie...)

I honestly do not believe that AN has been asked to be involved in this merely for PR reasons, I believe that they truly value her contribution. That said, once things get rolling, it's very easy for them to act as if her mere presence in the writers room or over Skype is her "blessing". Not necessarily so. Ultimately, folks are going to do what they want to do whether Miss Agnes likes it or not, particularly as the weeks go by and the creative staff starts smelling themselves in their fancy new positions. Agnes Nixon is a whiz when it comes to vivid characters, mot overly preachy social issues, and HEART. AMC's greatest gift was its heart, that heart carried it (and longterm, loyal viewers) through a lot of vapid rough patches. These are the sort of things that make her an invaluable consultant, imo.

Well said, and I agree 100% (no big surprise). It seems like, at the moment, PP knows they need all the help and support from people like her they can get--after a few months (if...) that could all change.

I dont recall why he crashed it but man did I hate those opening titles .....lol....I am glad they got rid of them.

I'm a bit of a blur--was that Adrianna's bachelorette party for her wedding to Rex or someone else? Ugh I should know something that recently better. I know he got sloshed and went over after being told not to.

Didn't the show a few years earlier have the guys of Llanview strip for another bachelorette party?

Ha..there was a girl I was attracted to back in jr high...but she gave me the shaft..saw her recently ..and she still looks very hot...besides her..nah to females...all males here but you knew that already Eric...

Yeah I saw the light sometime by the time I was 18 ;)

Wow, I see what he was going for, but yeah, "Incest is Best" is a pretty darn awful and disrespectful joke to make in the context of this show.

Exactly--and frankly, while I think soaps are often still too conservative or old fashioned, it seemed the wrong kinda humour for a soap opera anyway (I guess I could imagine JER using it on Passions...) The idea of titles for episodes makes some sense--but when you have 200+ titles a year it just seemed a waste of even the thirty or so seconds they prob spent thinking up a title. (it used to always fascinate me as a kid that nearly all primetime shows use titles for their episodes even though it's very rare--especially nowadays--to show them on screen).

To clarify, lol, I'm straight but if I find a man attractive I'm comfortable enough to admit that I think they're hot LOL and yes he is!

He's no Brody... But yeah, that's fine. I think a lot of straight guys are more comfortable talking that way (at least in my circle of aquantances and friends--but that circle probably isn't really representational...) I admit, though, it has made me plenty confused with certain guys whose sequality I've wondered about, when you go out drinking with them and they agree with you or some girl that someone is hot.

OUCH. laugh.png

I wouldn't go THAT far. I just don't think she's straight up ugly you do. Big difference. wink.png

I always preferred Brittany Underwood to Kristen Alderson...just sayin'.. lol

I am thinking about that but with REAL money!

I think more people are going to sign up since their is a casting director now.

The new CD's focus will be on finding new talent to fill out the rest of the canvas. The PP producers are rallying the vets as the shows' foundations.

As for Erin, yes...I agree.

Here is my take and lets start the begining

Also, this was a reply to my soap loving proff. So if their are any "Like you saids" or anything like that keep in mind this is a reply:

What led to Irna's downfall was what you said. If she didn't like it she didn't like something and she would change it. She grew up not only when men dominated but in a time were there was no women at all! Before her their was nothing to dominate so she believed she couldn't yield to the powers that be or her creativity would be lost. She would rather cancel a show than to have them control her…which she did!!! Again, that led to her downfall because she made more enemies than friends and NBC/P&G/CBS pushed her of the business and she died a year later. Although she created a MEDIUM she wanted to have a husband, house in the burbs, and 2.3 children! The Ozzie and Harriet life if you will. That was also the basis for ATWT. Anyway, she said if she could trade her legacy for a husband she would.

Agnes learned from Irna's mistake IMO. However, Agnes's father was very discouraging. Agnes did not believe she had what it took to be a writer until Irna told her she was great. Agnes' downfall is that she allowed her father and others to suck away her potential. However, if it wasn't for her father she would not be as great as she is today. Vickie's father was initially Agnes's father. Prominate member of society but demented and over bearing to his kid(s). So OLTL would not have the dynamic hat sparked 43 years thus that show would not have existed. Erica was based off of Agnes' "If I were Bad what would I do" so that dynamic would not exists thus AMC would not be here today.

Double Edge Sword.

I agree with some of your take, at least the Irna stuff. Did she really say that about a husband though? (Two or so years ago they said they discovered a manuscript she wrote for her memoirs--I wish they'd publish it). However, while the P^G honchos tended to be male, Irna did work with a LOT of women (Lucy Ferri Rittenberg was EP at Guiding Light from the start of the TV run through Nixon's 8 years as HW, and then 7 years after that, for example, Mary Harris was EP at ATWT for the majority of the 60s).

About Agnes though, I think her father saying she shouldn't and couldn't be a writer led to her ultimately being more ambitious--that's what I get from what she says about it in All Her Children.

I get confused with guys as well in that department..I thought it only happened to me
