October 20, 201213 yr Member It's pretty simple: think of something that hasn't been done before on soaps (here, you have a wide berth) and then share it with the rest.
October 20, 201213 yr Member hmmm....have they ever had anybody have children with down-syndrome? Holly and Fletcher on GL.
October 20, 201213 yr Member Holly and Fletcher on GL. oh ok, thanks for letting me know. I wanna also say maybe a bi-racial gay/lesbian couple...the closest i can think of is SImone and her lover Rae on Passions, Simone was black and Rae was hispanic I think? Edited October 20, 201213 yr by yr9190
October 20, 201213 yr Author Member Here's mine: in years past, soaps have done serial killer stories as a means of reducing budgets and/or resolving tense contract renewal negotiations with actors, among other reasons. Usually, though, the stories are written as "closed mysteries," meaning, the audience is kept in suspense as to the culprit's identity until the climax. (And usually, they're written that way, because the stories begin with no clear idea in mind who is responsible for the killings.) For once, I'd like to see a HW not only know from the jump who is responsible, but also let the audience in as well. Instead of all the "black glove/hooded mask" nonsense, let us, the viewers, know from the very, very beginning (perhaps, with some random dayplayers as the initial victims to start) who the culprit is, and then follow that individual as everyone in town struggles to make sense of the killings and piece together all the clues leading to his/her identity, thereby creating a deeper sense of dramatic irony. October 20, 201213 yr Member Has there ever been a threesome on a soap? Polygamy? I was going to say a late in life coming out. But I guess Olivia and Natalia were late in life lesbians.
October 20, 201213 yr Member British soaps tend to do that, although it's usually not a genuine serial killer story, more that they kill someone, and have to kill someone else to cover it up, and the press says it's a serial killer because it's more than one fatality.
October 20, 201213 yr Author Member I was going to say a late in life coming out. But I guess Olivia and Natalia were late in life lesbians. More like, "too little, too late" lesbians. But I get your point.

No, it has to be a genuine serial killer story. Imagine the kind of impact the "Salem Stalker" story might have made on DAYS had we known all along about Antony (since it wasn't really Tony) brainwashing Marlena.
October 20, 201213 yr Author Member Threesome, on Hollyoaks. I might as well rename this the "Brits Are Handing U.S. Soaps Their Asses" thread.
October 20, 201213 yr Member I don't mean to sound perverted, but have they ever shown anyone performing masturebation?
October 20, 201213 yr Author Member Probably on "Emmerdale." (j/k, Carl, lol.) But on American soaps? I don't think so.
October 20, 201213 yr Member Someone on a soap who becomes a sex worker, not because they have no options, or because they have been abused, but because they are drawn into this world and they feel like it answers a lot of questions for them and gives them a purpose and fulfillment. How would the people around them deal with this change, how would they deal with seeing the uglier side of life and the knowledge that many of the people around them in this new world have a lot of issues to work out. I might as well rename this the "Brits Are Handing U.S. Soaps Their Asses" thread. If you'd seen the story you wouldn't feel that way. Edited October 20, 201213 yr by CarlD2
October 20, 201213 yr Member Someone on a soap becomes a born again Christian. How much does this change them? How does it change the reactions of their friends and family, or their employers?
