The British version of "Who's the Boss" called "The Upper Hand", with a theme song eerily reminiscent of the theme from "Knots Landing":

I think this show basically ripped off the KL theme and changed a few notes so it isn't exactly plagiarism. If they were played side by side it would be apparent I think.

I just had to revive this old thread. I was browsing on YouTube and found this old gem. This is the opening from a German tv-series for kids from the 1970s. I remember this very well from my childhood, but I had no idea that it could be found on YouTube.

There was a UK Who's The Boss and the Mona role was played by !@#$%^&*] Galore?? My mind is blown.

Bumping this old thread yet again....

I can't believe I forgot this one before. I'm not sure how popular/successful this show was in the U.S, but here in Sweden it was immensely popular. It became a cult classic, and millions of people watched it. It has been re-run several times since it first aired over 30 years ago, and has also been released in its entirety on dvd.

This opening, and the majestic music, brings me back to my childhood.

The Allo Allo theme is one of the most beautiful and haunting of any sitcom (even with the applause over it).
