No Carl, I think you are wrong about this. Petticoat Junction came first with the town of Hooterville, and then Green Acres followed and Mr Zucker or whatever the guy's name was appeared on both shows simultaneously.

Correct. The "Hooterville Universe" consisted of "The Beverly Hillbillies" (1962-1971), "Petticoat Junction" (1963-1970), "Green Acres" (1965-1971), Return of the Beverly Hillbillies (1981), & Return to Green Acres (1990), & The Legend of the Beverly Hillbillies (1993).

It also had one of the weirdest casting decisions ever when they had a white actor playing Helen and Tom's only son.

Yeah, that was Jay Hammer (Fletcher from GL) as Alan. They had a white son and a black daughter. rolleyes.gif The first Alan, however, looked more biracial or at least latino. They did a great episode about Jenny's resentment that he could "pass" and she couldn't. Great colorism stuff that a soap would have been wise to touch upon beyond Carla Gray.

I wouldn't say my picks are better than the series they were spun-off from, but I enjoyed them more.

Archie Bunker's Place > All in the Family

The Bradys > The Brady Bunch

Mama's Family > The Carol Burnett Show

Knots Landing > Dallas

The Facts of Life > Diff'rent Strokes

The Golden Palace > The Golden Girls

Saved by the Bell > Good Morning, Miss Bliss

NCIS > JAG

Happy Days > Love, American Style

The Andy Griffith Show > The Danny Thomas Show

Family Matters > Perfect Strangers

Green Acres > Petticoat Junction

What's Happening Now!! > What's Happening!!

I also far more enjoyed the Star Trek films, the Naked Gun films, & the Perry Mason films rather than the series.

I knew I'd get phone calls on that one. Lol. As a soap fan, I far more enjoyed A Very Brady Christmas & The Bradys. The series had to evolve with the times, and it did just that, but in a dramatic sort of way instead of its usual slapstick.

First Alan was also news reporter Jesus Jarrera on Mary Hartman during the storyline where Mary was being held hostage in a Chinese laundromat.

I did not know that!

WTF The Golden Place over The Golden Girls???????????

My son owns a hotel. I found that there aren't many shows that focus on the funny side of the hotel business. The Golden Palace did.

I love all things Brady but this was my least favorite. They even ruined the theme song by slowing it down so much. Such a catchy theme, just plug in any lyrics with a couple of rhymes and you got a show!

and then they ruined it!

and then they ruined it!

There's a version out there somewhere from the first episode where Florence Henderson sings the theme rather than an instrumental.

 Don't make me get Mabel on you!

So, The Brady Kids, that wsan't Susan Olsen, was it? I'm assuming the original actors minus Susan did the voices, otherwise what a waste to have them all in the credits. Oh my God, two pandas and a bird in Mickey's wizard cap??
