Daytime TV and soap magazine surveys

Thanks. You never would have known Terry Davis and Barbara Stranger were so popular. DAYS seemed to make little effort to keep Stranger.

And I wonder how much effort Edge made to keep Terry Davis. She was the leading lady of that show at the time.

I cant believe they wanted Dr. Angie Baxter Hubbard to do Playboy!

Well, she did show her titties in Mandingo. ph34r.png

I love reading these old polls, thanks, Carl! Keep 'em coming! :)

Me too!!! Cool that you have Carrington Garland's 1st Top Ten appearance. I was rarely able to find Daytime TV past 1989 because we'd moved to Texas and only one grocery store carried it, the one we rarely went to. Nice to know that Carrington was popular enough to crack it as early as 1990.

Thank you both for reading! This is my last from the SB era for now but I do have others. I also have a Weekly survey from around early 1990, and it heavily features SB. Interestingly enough there are no rankings for Guiding Light - no favorite actors, couples, and #9 in favorite soap. I guess their fans just weren't as vocal.

Thanks for posting! Its always fun to see who was in the lead and nice to see some of the actors I never really thought were popular at the time since you don't hear much about those characters in the lead.

Thanks for posting all of these! I like viewing the lists the fans voted on from the era it was happening. I have a couple of issues of Daytime TV where Pete/Melissa and Eugene/Calliope make the top five couples list. People forget how popular some other couples really were at their time. I know Kim and Shane won the SOD best couple award twice but you hardly hear a peep about them anymore.

That's true. Mostly based on how long the actors stay around. You would never know of Pete/Melissa today.

Does anyone have any of the old Soap Opera Update Readers Polls? They used to have them too, only they had Best Couple also.

When were they done? I mostly have some from about 92-01, a few here and there.

I remember them being done in the 80s so they're probably not in those. I'm 99% sure it was SOU, unless it was another long-lost soap magazine I've forgotten about.
