Frankly, I don't understand how anyone at Lifetime would think the original movie, as successful as it was, was the PERFECT "backdoor pilot" for a weekly series. It was an interesting, if tawdry, story; in series form, however, I fear it'll be one-note.

I think they have made enough changes already to keep it interesting. The husband leaving her, his brother is clearly going to step up so there is that, the other girls' lives is also an area they can focus on some.

I think they did a good enough job reworking the story for it to last awhile.

I watched the first episode out of curiosity the other day and loved it. Juicy, soapy, and guilty pleasure. Can't wait for tonight.

The series is considered a re-imagining of the film not a direct continuation, Hewitt plays a different character with slightly similar circumstances, the movie her character is also struggling to make ends meet most notably because her husband is unable to work and was supposed to be a football player but became injured and in the series her husband has left her and her children so in both film and series she gets a job at a spa and soon discovers it is really a front for prostitution.

And when JLH decides to ankle this series because it's doing her no favors, Lifetime can re-tool it as a new vehicle for Linda Cardellini, playing yet another single mom who turns to "massage therapy" after her husband leaves her and their kids high and dry.

? The show is a hit for Lifetime and it just got renewed. She is the executive producer so she is raking in the bucks. It is doing her favors in terms of real hard cash.
