Members OLTL_fan
+1. I can't believe people sit through this trainwreck daily.
Members jcar03
No Susan Lucci has not been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. I am not sure how he equates to star power.....
Members marceline
As opposed to the stupid, misognystic, bigoted, screaming, yelling, repetitive, (in addition to being badly written and poorly acted) daily trainwrecks that are soaps? At least The View features women of color and women over 40 in prominent positions as well as significantly less rape. Sorry but I'd take Whoopi, Joy, Sherri, Barbara and even Hasselbeck's ignorant ass over Kendall, Greenlee, Jessica, Natalie, Sam or Carly and based on the numbers so would many others. And let's not even discuss the Sultans of ABC: Ryan, Zach, John, Todd/Victor, Sonny and Jason.

Members DRW50
Considering that this is a show which has prominent spokespeople defending Roman Polanski, I'm not sure about that. I don't see a big difference between the women of The View and what you would get on other soaps. Yes, there is more diversity, on the surface, but underneath, they represent the same ignorance. Rape, domestic violence, cruetly to animals, and anti-Semistism have all been defended on The View. So have thoughts against evolution as well as bans against gay marriage and bans against talking about homosexuality in schools. Views that do support less right wing views are often frazzled and incoherent. If Joy "how can I work in a punchline?" Behar is their liberal then they might as well give up. If you have a show which consistently supports hard right views, is it OK as long as one or two older women or minorities are the face, instead of white men? The women are there to essentially be humiliated and laughed at. The man is there to get an Emmy. I forgot to add that I'm not sure why it's either/or. I agree that the soaps are disgusting and have been for years. I wouldn't want anyone prominent in daytime right now to get a Lifetime Achievement Award. I just don't think, "Hey, the soaps are disgusting" is enough to warrant giving an award to a very offensive piece of trash like The View.
Members ellabelle
Honestly, I was hoping Susan would get it. She's been the face of daytime for so long, and she deserves it, especially in a year when her show was cancelled, and she didn't get one final pre-nom for best actress. Members EastMA2
What a slap to people like Susan Lucci and Erika Slezak, among many others who are far more deserving that Gedde.
