Members darraholic
It's probably for the best. DAYS would likely air during the middle of the night. And from a business standpoint.... The Olympics > Days of our Lives. It's really a no-brainer. TPTB really need to give the show an awesome cliffhanger going into the break. Leave the viewers wanting to come back. They also need to take a full month off shooting. This schedule they're on is beyond ridicoulous.

Members jcar03
There was really no way around it because of the time difference and when key events were going to be scheduled to air. It is better to preempt it entirely instead of moving it to ridiculous times and having people miss episodes.
Members JAS0N47
In any event, there's no space for anything on NBC's schedule, be it daytime, primetime, or late night. The Olympics will be airing from 12:35AM-5AM, 10AM-5PM, 8PM-12AM each weekday. The only thing airing on the network besides the Olympics for the 2 weeks is a shortened, 3-hour version of "Today" from 7AM-10AM. That leaves just 5.5 hours a day for local news & syndicated programming (5AM-7AM, 5PM-8PM, 12AM-12:35AM), so everything from "Days" to the whole primetime schedule to "Jay Leno", "Jimmy Fallon", etc.... won't be airing. Members Eric83
I hope DAYS doesn't suffer too much from the break. Hopefully we get a few HUGE cliffhangers.
Members Ira
Even despite it's awfulness, DAYS was really entertaining the last time it got pre-empted for the Olympics. It's probably too much to hope for something really fun and ridiculous that will pull people back. I remember the "Next time on Days" that Friday looked epic, since this was during the whole captive island storyline. But there's not really anything that epic happening on the show now. I do home they take a lot of time off, though. Because I agree how far ahead they are in shooting is kinda stupid.
Members Gray Bunny
Well I'm sure their cliffhanger won't be anything like 2004's "they're all alive on an island!" reveal... but that's probably a good thing.

Administrator Toups Posted March 14, 2012 Administrator Share Posted March 14, 2012 LMAO at Stephen Wyman's special effects. Lightning bolt! Stormy clouds! Explosion! Swirly effect! Seeing Heather Lindell for those few seconds made me miss her. Her Jan Spears was sexy and devious.
Members Max
DOOL really was at its all time worst in 2004. The s#it that year was even more dreadful than the last two years of AMC & GL, the vampire stuff on PC, and possibly even worse than Passions was in 2004. Was the soap pre-empted as much in 2008 as it was in 2004 & 2012?
Members darraholic
I don't think DAYS was pre-empted in 2008 because of the time difference of Beijing.
Members Ira
I still say Days is at its worst when its dreadfully BORING. Like Dena's first run in 2003, the one that upset Brash/Cwikly. And then whatever the hell was going on in during that safe house mess up until before the baby switch started really taking shape. 2004 is awful, awful writing but I'll be damned if I wasn't glued to my screen every day.
