February 26, 201213 yr Member Anyone watching tonight? Is it wrong I'm more excited to see Miss Piggy & Kermit than anyone?
February 26, 201213 yr Member I'm mostly wondering whether Billy Crystal has any new material. And if the Oscars are going to throw stuff at Apatow in drag Bridesmaids to compensate for giving awards to movies no one saw, like The Artist.

The Oscars is just pure politics. Hell all awards shows are but Oscars are the frontrunners. The ones that win are the ones I have never heard of before. They always pic the movie that has a social message and bam they are the winner. It has nothing to do with the best.
February 27, 201213 yr Member And who the hell is that gay guy interview all the stars?? And dont tell me he is not gay.....as Blanche would say ...he is about to fly out of there....

It depends on the year I guess. The Artist is more of a prestige win. In previous years, The Help would have won everything, since it tells a story that Hollywood sees as edgy - ie, Crash (racism is bad! Sandra Bullock hates racism so much she hugged her maid!) Some year, Bridesmaids might have won, because it's seen as hip - look everybody, women can do dirty things too, we're shocked. And who the hell is that gay guy interview all the stars?? Don't know..my mom keeps saying who is he...I know Ive seen him somewhere......all I know is he is as gay as a picnic basket...gotta love Sophia....and Robin Roberts is such an awful interviewer....
February 27, 201213 yr Member Apparently Sasha Baren Cohen threw ashes on Seacrest? Seacrest is so smarmy and fake, I wonder if he tried to pretend it was great fun.
February 27, 201213 yr Member Anna was at the Independent Spirit Awards too. Such a wonderful actress - it's too bad this is the only way she seems to be able to be recognized.
February 27, 201213 yr Member to compensate for giving awards to movies no one saw, like The Artist. Don't they always do that? There are a few "big" winners people actually see (Gladiator, Lord Of The Rings) but overall they usually go for the underrated under dog film that talks about history and socio-poltics The Kings Speech The Hurt Locker Crash Slumdog Millionaire or they go for the dreary emotional drama A Beautiful Mind The Departed No Country For Old Men It depends on the year I guess. The Artist is more of a prestige win. In previous years, The Help would have won everything, since it tells a story that Hollywood sees as edgy - ie, Crash (racism is bad! Bridesmaids would never win because it's a comedy and the Academy hates comedies. The Oscars always award films that are "different" without being completely off the wall/out there art house projects.
February 27, 201213 yr Member I need to start paying my SAG dues so I can get free movies again, I haven't seen ANYthing. I still wish Eddie Murphy would have hosted. I guess I'm most interested in seeing the outcome of former Doubt co-stars Davis and Streep.
