Nicole Walker...No Goodbye???

So according to TV Guide online, Nicole will have no real goodbye or sendoff. The show is leaving the role very open ended. I'm a little disturbed by this as I believe Arianne so deserves a good sendoff. What do you guys think?

Lately I've found myself drawn to any scene with Nicole (since Brady's departure that is)! I'm really gonna miss AZ.

I am disappointed but given the fact that her exit was so sudden ( I mean Days had long term plans for her since in SOD's 2006 previews issue they had her being paired with Roman) actually is what is keeping me from being outraged. She may go off to run Highstyle yet but we may not get a goodbye scene. We will just hear her acknowledged on the phone or something. I think Days has a feeling she may return someday too but I doubt it since her character has no ties whatsoever but the way this all happened (and it happened very fast I mean we only learned this like two weeks ago) tells me Days wasn't prepared for this and that they are just gonna leave it open if they ever decide to pick up the role. Sadly, they can do this since Nicole is a minor character now and hasn't been on much at all. I will miss Ari dearly and hope that a miracle happens and she returns someday :( .

I think we should all vote for her in the top 10 her last week to show our support :D .

Bricole ruined Nicole and wasted the many years that Nicole could have been doing something else more enjoyable. That is one of Days biggest mistakes:forcing Bricole down our throats and it was Higley who started that crap  .

I sooooo agree with this!

And Nicole getting no send off? To have a coming back open? Oh please... They could have send her off to LA to work for High Style and have a small goodbye party (okay, so not many people would be there, since not many people liked Nicole, but still..) !

But I guess whoever said that it must have been to sudden for the producers is right..

I know, but making her go to LA to run HS could also leave it open for her to return anytime! They could explain it by saying Nicole became an alcholic (ok, maybe not became, but maybe her alcoholism progressed lol) and she screwed up HS and got fired and then she came back to Salem!

This was posted already in the DTS board :)

I don't think this is so much of a problem considering Nicole goes and comes on the screen all the time. One minute you see her, one minute you don't. It's like is she REALLY on the show?

You're right, in a way. At this point, who would really care if Nicole left town? Austin is the only person I can think of who would genuinely miss her. Maybe Sami and Victor would care. They've really just boxed her into this isolated, crappy corner.

I don't so much mind that the character is leaving, because they have a big cast and she isn't "core." What sucks is that they haven't bothered to write a story for a talented performer and won't even show her the respect of letting the audience know where the character went.

    • Six minutes into watching today's episode, and there's Joey...... Ugh!!
    • We have to deal with more Tide and Febreeze - that’s really what’s paying the bills for the show, so it’s a necessary evil.
    • It is interesting that Ann lasts as long as she does as a character on the show. I assume the show chose not to renew her contract, but I don't know for certain. I also believe Millette Alexander's contract wasn't renewed after she last appeared at Christmas in 1982. Looking back, I really wish that they had ended up pairing Sara and Mike Bauer versus Sara and Adam. Sara and Mike were already good friends, and it would have been an interesting twist in 1978 if Sara and Mike had a fling after Dean Blackwell's death, Sara turning to Mike for comfort after Dean's death. Mike and Sara certainly could have been a tentpole couple moving forward, unlike Mike and Elizabeth.
    • I wish they’d inject some of Colby’s real life energy, and yes, fashion sense, into Kat.
    • Like I've said before, I think the show is often a very strange (and admittedly fascinating to me) mix of very old-fashioned, purple dialogue and classic soap opera structural elements - right down to the insanely blatant, virally successful product placement for P&G - mixed with other dialogue or material that tries desperately to be current and hip. One moment it will remind me of very hokey old B&B stuff or expository stuff out of the '60s, and the other it'll look and sound like the Prospect Park soaps. Some of the hipper dialogue or material (Chelsea's sexuality, etc.) works for me, others are pure cringe. Same with the classical stuff, like the characters (particularly the elders) gathering around to recap plot, make grand pronouncements about each other or their children/family, or make grave portents of the future. Then there's the whole piano thing lol. It's a weird mix, but not one I'm mad about atm so much as mystified by. As a longtime soap fan it is very compelling to examine even when parts of it really don't work, because so much of BTG feels both very old and very new at the same time. I do think they need to dump the Bell (or maybe more accurately Brad Bell) school of dialogue MVJ has been working from for years, and bring in more of the naturalistic GH house style she and Guza worked from in the '90s and 2000s. If that means dumping a lot of the dialogue people so be it (I do think some are good). OTOH the Bell style seems to work for a lot of the social media and probably offline audience that isn't me, so who's to say. I don't think Dani is at all in the latter-day Carly though. She's not on quite as much, and she's far from always right. I do think they are definitely playing it down the middle with the Duprees while waiting to reveal more, but I do think they want you to see them both ways or divide the audience on who they are. Which seems to have succeeded because some people are baffled.
    • Might this show be a black stereotype? Angry crazy acting women like Dani and Leslie. Cheating punk men like Bill and Ted who didn't keep it in their pants. Angry black men like Martin. Promiscuous black man wanting the white girl. Dirty black cops. And so on?

    • That would require Dani to think about someone/something other than herself.. and we all know Dani only thinks about Dani.  Including her butting into Nicole's business instead of just being a supportive sister.
