I'll give you Nathan and maybe Amy (although, I feel I'm being generous when it comes to her) but you dare bring up Tyrone, whose legacy with the show amounts to one of the most absurd and offensive stories in TV history; and certainly not Jazz, who was just...ugh...where was John Danelle's karate choppin'-behind when we needed it!?

what was Tyrone's story?

I don't really want to go through Ellen's letter again to verify this, but did she even try to get a lawyer and/or get representation when contract talks would came up or did she just meekly sign her non-negotiable contract every time?

Again, I still don't understand how and why she would even sign that first contract via a guy on the phone supposedly representing her who wouldn't identify himself. Maybe she was intimidated or totally naive given she was paving new ground as an AA on daytime, but that smacks of utter stupidity.

In case anyone was wondering: yes, "Kong" was Nathan Hastings. As I said, I'll give Chris B that Nathan was a positive, front-burner portrayal of AA's on Y&R...if by "positive," we mean "henchman who reforms himself into Olivia's bougie husband who slept with HIV-positive Keesha behind Olivia's back and wound up getting killed as a result of trying to kidnap his own son."

I barely remember Jazz. Weren't he and Amy a couple? Was Jazz a part of a gang like "Kong" was (but could read)? dry.png

No, Jazz and Amy weren't a couple, but he and "Konathan" worked in Anthony's organization. Together, they helped Tyrone take down the mobster.

Tyrone should have consulted Oprah. She's been passing as White for years.

Apparently, the Brad/Jenny/Karen/Larry/Marco story was a bad thing for the Black contingent on OLTL. Once those four took off, it was only a matter of time before EH, LH and Al Freeman, Jr. would be taken off.

That story ended in 82 and Carla was on til 85 and Ed til 88

Carla was on till 1980. She didnt return till 1983 and remained for only 2 years

Ok yeah she did have a break But Lillian was on til 85 and Ed til 87/88 and then they brought in that new police chief and the prices than Hank/Rachel/RJ. I think they had pretty core black characters all along

Tell that to Hattie McDaniel...Mamie was a very important supporting character and when Veronica Redd took over the role she got some good stuff to work with. My point in mentioning the 80s characters was to show that Bill Bell did try throughout that decade and most of the black actors he cast were kept on for many years. Nathan Purdee was the most successful of the lot, actually making the transition into the 90s and into a major frontburner character.

This was in a response to your which is incorrect.

Exactly.
