Isn't the child Diana is pregnant with now, Tracy? I'm pretty sure - though I could be wrong - that Tracy was the result of Diana and Phil's relationship (that we are seeing playing out now in Depboy's summaries) and then it was when Tracy was ill or had died (not too sure on the order of events there) towards the end of 1972 that Phil raped Diana, resulting in Martha.

Audrey has one more bad "marriage" (in quotation marks because it later turned out to be invalidated by Tom's return) to Jim Hobart to get through before she and Steve finally reunite for good in 1976.

And the kidnapping of Tom Jr took place in 1972 I think. It was what led to Tom's presumed death in Mexico. In 1976-77, Tom just tries to guilt Audrey into getting back together with him "for their son's sake". That didn't last long and the show moved towards having Steve and Audrey involved in Jeff and Annie's problems rather than their own.

I am heading out of state until Monday, but wanted to get in a few more summaries beforehand.  Enjoy!

Thursday, April 1, 1971: Lucille feels low because Audrey is moving out; she pretends to Peter not to mind, then reveals that she feels lost and wonders if she should marry Al or live alone.

Friday, April 2: Diana tries to wake Phil by calling him Harold; she changes tactics, calls him Phil and he opens his eyes.  Steve and Tom argue bitterly because Tom wants to question Audrey about the baby's death.

Monday, April 5: Steve is puzzled when Audrey hysterically protests against telling Tom the name of the obstetrician that performed the C-section.

Tuesday, April 6: Steve worries about being shorthanded at the hospital and needing another nurse; in spite of Diana's protests, Steve insists on seeing Phil; he doesn't recognize him.

Wednesday, April 7: Lee, alone in the house with Brooke, as Scotty is at a friend's, writes a letter to Meg.  Tom tells Steve that an obstetrician colleague told him that Audrey's doctor must have made a mistake in delivering the baby.

Thursday, April 8: Jessie gets a phone call from Dave, her brother, saying that his wife Helen had a heart attack and is in the hospital.

Friday, April 9: Diana talks to Phil and tells him she is afraid of what will happen when Jessie comes in to see him; Jessie gets a phone call from her niece Carol that Helen died and she must leave immediately.

Monday, April 12: Diana is shocked to find Phil's bandages have been removed, he will surely be recognized now.

Tuesday, April 13: Peter tells Lee that Meg is in a catatonic state, but there is hope, but no guarantees.

Wednesday, April 14: Audrey reminds Mrs. Nelson of the need for strict secrecy about the baby; when Audrey refuses to tell Tom the name of the doctor who delivered the baby, he gets angry.

Thursday, April 15: Tom asks Lee if he can appear at the divorce hearing and question Audrey about the name of the doctor.  Diana asks Peter if he ever worries that Phil Brewer didn't really die in the plane crash.

Friday, April 16: Tom tells Jane that although his marriage is over, he will never rest until he finds out how his child died.

Monday, April 19: Mrs. Nelson tries to reach an off-duty Audrey, concerned over little Stevie's rising temperature; when Mrs. Nelson is connected to Tom via the hospital operator, his curiosity is aroused when she says she is desperate to find Audrey.

Tuesday, April 20: Scotty and Lee help celebrate Brooke's birthday with a cake and a charm bracelet; delighted, Brooke kisses Lee, who is mildly astonished.  Audrey calls Mrs. Nelson and discovers that Stevie is much better.

Wednesday, April 21: Peter tells Diana that Harold continues to make progress and that he hopes Jessie will be back by the end of the week; Diana apologizes to Phil for having kept the fact that he was declared innocent from him.

Thursday, April 22: Audrey tells Mrs. Nelson that Tom doesn't know that the baby is alive; Mrs. Nelson gets a glimmering of her leverage. (Audrey, no!)

Friday, April 23: Diana wonders if she should tell Phil about the baby, decides not to.  Mrs. Nelson tells Audrey she will need more money to continue caring for the baby; the audience sees that Mrs. Nelson is beginning to see the possibility of blackmail.

Monday, April 26: Diana is relieved when Peter tells him that Jessie won't return until tomorrow; Diana sits with Phil, thinking it's their last day together.

Tuesday, April 27: Howie and Jane barley avoid a quarrel over Brooke; Brooke does her best to find a place in Lee's heart and seems to be succeeding.  Jessie returns to work and tells Diana she will go see Harold, but Peter rescues Diana by insisting Jessie is too tired to visit.

Wednesday, April 28: Audrey, sick with the flu, worries what would happen to her baby if she got very sick and realizes that she is wholly at Mrs. Nelson's mercy; Mrs. Nelson calls and demands a day off, and Audrey realizes she is being blackmailed.

Thursday, April 29: Tom warns Brooke that there is no future in her living with Lee; Brooke assures Lee that she has never been so happy.  Jessie tells Diana that she plans to see Harold after work; desperate, Diana tells Jessie and Peter she feels sick and Jessie insists that they take her home.

Friday, April 30: Lucille, who is going to a reunion of Army nurses in Paris, comes to say goodbye to Audrey.  Howie meets with a real estate development promoter, Gus Wheeler, who tells him about a "hot" deal.  Audrey gives Lucille a letter with a check to mail to Mrs. Nelson; Mrs. Nelson calls Audrey and Audrey tersely assures her the check is on the way.  Jessie tells Tom she has healed from Phil's death; she goes into visit Harold, recognizes him and faints.

It's crazy to me they drew putting Steve and Audrey back together out even beyond James B. Sikking's character (who clearly wasn't necessary). I know things moved much slower back then but I mean, how long were they apart? Close to a decade?

I would love to see the tornado/hurricane stunt from Donovan's(?) EP reign just pre-Monty, when they tried to unsuccessfully revamp and killed Diana's daughter.

Well by the time Diana gave birth it is possible that Peter and Diana are already married - I believe Peter quickly married Diana because Phil and Jessie had reunited and Tracy needed a name. They fell in love for real later.

We'll soon find out for certain though

Noted that it was established early on that Jessie had a brother (although he never appeared) so setting up the arrival of Jessie's niece and nephew in the future.

BTW Martin West who was portraying Phil at this time was widowed in June 1971 when his wife Carol died of Hodgkins Disease aged 29.

Speaking of Diana, it seems a fair amount of non-L&L material is hard to come by (or at least hard to ferret out amidst other stuff) in the key month of January 1981 til early February when Diana gets killed. When and how did she hit on the plan to seduce Jeff let alone get him into bed? Around Christmas '80 she seems very nervous about Heather and preoccupied with her but doesn't seem to be making eyes for Jeff yet. Granted I've been skipping around but it seems like it must be a swift turn.

Friday, May 14: Jessie tells Peter about her experiment in communication with Phil, but Peter fears the eye-blinking may be a reaction from an uncontrolled nervous system.  Mrs. Nelson tells Audrey she is ill; Steve suggests he see Mrs. Nelson, and cannot understand Audrey's vehement reaction.  When Lee asks about bringing Meg home, Peter is negative, fearing possible suicide.

Monday, May 17: Peter questions Jessie and discovers her pity for Phil.  Steve again hopes Audrey will stop seeing Mrs. Nelson.

Wednesday, May 26: Audrey offers Mrs. Nelson more money to stay with Stevie over Memorial Day.  Brooke gives Scotty a flashlight for an overnight campout; when Scotty calls her "Mom", Lee flares.

Thursday, May 27: Mrs. Nelson demands Memorial Day off; Lucille refuses to let Audrey get out of the weekend commitment; Diana tells and unresponsive Phil that she will fight for him.

Friday, May 28: Peter urges Jessie to tell Phil about the annulment; Jessie discovers Phil has a fever.  Lucille fills Al in on the weekend plans.  Audrey tells Steve and Lucille that she simply can't go away for the weekend; concerned that she is exhausted, Steve sends her home to bed.

Monday, May 31: Steve and Jessie examine Phil, who now has pneumonia; Peter tells Jessie he has his own reasons for wanting Phil to recover -- it's easier to fight a healthy man; Jessie tells Lucille she doesn't blame Diana for having fallen for Phil.  Audrey arrives at Mrs. Nelson's to care for Stevie while Mrs. Nelson is out decorating her uncle's grave for Memorial Day; Mrs. Nelson returns home late, and when Steve finally reaches Audrey, he demands to know where she's been.

Friday, June 4: Mrs. Nelson tells Audrey how coincidental it is that there is a Dr. Steven Hardy at GH and that Audrey's child is named Steven Hardy.  Howie, after telling Lee about the forged signature on the loan, realizes that Wheeler must have been a con man and took the money.  Steve tells Jessie the truth about Phil's condition: he may not live.

Friday, June 25: Audrey bitterly reproaches Lucille for having given information to Mrs. Nelson.  Lucille miserably asks Al to postpone the wedding.  When Howie asks Lee what he can to since the police haven't found Wheeler, Lee tells him to chalk it up to experience and learn from it.

Monday, June 28: Jessie decides Phil should have the surgery; Diana is frightened; Peter comforts Jessie.

Tuesday, June 29: Peter tells Lee that Meg's not wanting to see him is an indication of how serious her mental problems are; Brooke tries to comfort Lee.  When Diana learns that Phil's surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, she says a tearful goodbye to him.  Audrey is fearful when she learns Tom has asked permission to take time off to go to Boston.

Wednesday, June 30: Steve calls Jessie to say the surgery is over and he will be right down.  Tom tells Jane he is going to Boston to get to the bottom of the mystery of the baby's death.
