MA'S ROADHOUSE!!!!!!!! So fake, so scripted, so staged, SO HILARIOUS. We gathered 'round for that every Wednesday.

Soaps need to take note. I love my glamorous, elegant, stinkin' rich soap families very much, but I'd pay millions to see a trailer trash soap. Hoarders has provided enough source material for several years.

Yes! I wish Jeanne Cooper had had a second soap gig as that kind of character (I know I know, Marge, but...), she definitely would have done it justice. Especially when she still had her smoker's voice. Does Ma's Roadhouse still come on? Ma was ROUGH, you just know she really lived it up, and HARD.

This thread should be called Hoarders/Intervention, I mean they do come on back to back...;-)

Allison's episode was one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. It's in my top 5. It's definitely one of the most memorable! I wonder how that girls doing these days...

That show pisses me off sometimes, actually most of the time, because most of those people end up relapsing sleep.png I was BAWLING my eyes out a few weeks ago during this one episode, maybe you saw it, it was with this girl named Latisha...she was addicted to crack. That episode just broke me down! Then at the end we find out after she got home from rehab she relapsed!! I was ANGRY. I was so happy she got clean & she was so motivated to get back home & start over with her kids, then mad.gif

Back to Hoarder's, Imma have to record re-runs of this to so maybe I could catch some of these episodes you guys are talking about...LOL they sound really good, especially the one with the bunnies ;-P

Just watched the new episode from tonight with Stacey and Roi, and wow, this show is even more fascinating then I remember.

Stacey & her hoard of animals was just mind boggling to watch, I wish they had her explain how she lived in that house everyday because it was BEYOND disgusting. Animal feces everywhere, roaches, trash, etc - UGH! I would've died! How did she stand the smell & the bugs everywhere, where did she eat?? Just wow.

I get why she loved the animals so much but clearly she did not know how to take care of them. It was hard to watch the specialists take out all those sick animals. That dog with the staff infection sad.png And that dog with the heart worms just KILLED me because it looked so happy & energized! But if it didn't get treated soon it would just suddenly die. How tragic!!

Roi's hoard of unnecessary stuff was just unbelievable! He made me laugh quite a few times, I literally laughed out loud when he was sorting through his stuff and found those old ass pajama's, talking about they were "good" LOL wow.

I have mad respect for those specialists who help clear out the houses and clean. I would NOT have the patience for any of that. I would get mad really fast and go psycho, LOL...with Roi's house I knew the second they showed his hoard that it wouldn't have been able to be fully dealt with. It made sense his house ended up being condemned!

LOL....it was a really sad episode though, it tore me up!! Then when it was over I was mad as hell.

"Everyone that knows me says, just get rid of them. Just take them to Walmart. Just pass them out to somebody"

Oh that roach infestation was nasty. I felt so bad that she chose the animals over her own daughter. Sad that those pets ran her out of the house. The dog crap all around the house was absolutely disgusting. Does she even work? She must have stunk whenever she left the house bc no amount of perfume can hide that type of stench

I also have respect for the cleaners and doctors. Id have to get paid GOOD money to deal with that and even then Im not sure I could. I think Id be throwing up

What happens is they no longer smell the disgusting stuff anymore. One of the hoarding shows the therapist talked about being over whelmed by the dead cat smell but the individual living there didn't realize the cat (or cats) were dead.

Haha, I just saw that episode later. I didnt feel bad for him bc she didnt look interested in saving her marriage. She looked like she was done with him anyway

I just saw another crazy episode where a family's hoarding was so bad that a homeless woman moved into their basement and they didnt even realize it! They would notice that sometimes the door would be open, but didnt understand why until one day they saw a woman walk out...LOL

Another similat case is one Im watching now. A homeless man broke into a hoarders home and instead of reporting him to the cops, he let the guy build a small homeless shelter to sleep in on his front yard

That's one of my favorite episodes! The homeless guy was PISSED at the hoarder for keeping so much crap, even though he had no business living there! And then, they find that he's been hoarding condoms in the shelter! And then he started acting like he was a newscaster reporting from the hoarder's house.

For the life of me I can't remember exactly what he said when he was "broadcasting" but it was too funny.

lol...yep. That was the same episode as this one....

I love how you say "trick us" into thinking the 14 year old (fat..omg laugh.png ) girl was the hoarder, bc thats exactly how it played out. The mom disgusted me threatening to leave and getting all pissed when they tried to trash stuff. Bitch, please

    • I still continue to think that Dani is written like she's been in a soap opera for 20 seasons and she's come to a point where she's completely spent storyline wise. It's a vibe I'm getting. Characterization wise... It's like she is either incredibly stupid... or just plain delusional and out of touch with reality. I choose to pick the second option. Also... to me... she has not been entertaining for months now. Ever since they decided to jump straight to... she's an alcoholic... which we didn't need at this point... the character has struggled. Her initial Ex-wife-from-hell bravado was more interesting, even though cliche.  I expect her to improve in the coming months... they used her as a clown type of character to draw in views. Now I need to see the human being. If there is one, behind the soap opera caricature.
    • A full 1973 episode that looks fantastic in color.
    • It 's obviously cheaper to go the true crime route. Having different reporters and production teams covering a variety of topics costs more. The networks are delivering budget programming these days.
    • Maybe because 60 Minutes has kept the same formula for almost 57 years? Usually, there is more than one interview/topic discussed, like a real magazine. Dateline, 20/20, and so many others have all fallen to the one-subject formula: True crime. I mean, I'm a Forensic Files junkie and loved original America's Most Wanted back in the day, but even I think the TV market has been over-saturated with all crime, all the time. There was still that element when these shows began, but they were a segment of an episode, not the entire episode. Maybe the audience is just getting bored with such a fixed formula. If stories were intermixed with crime, some feel-good segment, and maybe something to do with lifestyle/music/and yes, as much as I have come to hate it, political issues, maybe these shows could rally. As they are - again, minus 60 Minutes - they have become tired and predictable.
    • Interesting tidbit- Robert Newman (Josh) dated Jennifer Cooke (Morgan) when they first started on Guidling Light (it was reported in the press and I think they talked about it in interviews). I did see (as a young kid) Rita having a flashback about Roger's rape of her --and it was confusing as a kid because she was on the floor leaning against her bed and she looked like she was seduced by force and her dress was in disarray, her hair was mussed, make up was a bit messy, but she looked at him with fear, disgust and confusion but the camera was in soft focus (so I get why people may say it was romanticized)--and I remember asking what happened to her and told well she is having nightmares/flashbacks of Roger not being nice to her
    •   Like I said I wasn’t talking about characterization. It makes sense that Dani is in denial. However literally no one in the real world would accuse someone of faking a pregnancy. Why? Because it’s just not feasible. What is Dani supposed to expect from Hayley—that she’ll be hiding a pillow under her shirt 24/7? Come on. The accusation has no legs, and that’s exactly why nobody would ever go there. A far more plausible accusation—one that actually has been made for centuries—is that someone might lie about who the father is. Dani only vaguely hinted at that, but at least that angle would make some narrative sense. I’d go for a coworking space that would be home to these small businesses like Kat and Chelsea’s bag startup (the whole police station trope feels like copaganda to me)
    • I guess RTPP looked worse because it followed Another World, but it's a shame they didn't give it more time especially considering how the shows that were put on following it fared.
