The worst thing they could do by far, even worse than leaving Greenlee to remain with Ryan, with Leo's return is re-kill him off. Besides, it was said that Leo (like Josh) is respect of where Greenlee (and the show) is now without him. It seems to be a parallel type of storyline from what I've read.

Josh basically said he didn't want to return for deadLeo, so it's hard to tell. Maybe he's a dream, or an out of body experience type of thing while Greenlee's unconscious or something
