Does anybody care to make a prediction as to whether OLTL will be forced to relocate to Los Angeles?

Unfortunately, I'd say the chances of a move to Los Angeles are about equal to the chances of Obama winning Massachusetts in next year's presidential election.

I think it's impossible to say until we know what Prospect Park intends to do.

Royal Pains shoots in NY (of course not year round like a soap) and series like The Big C and Are We There Yet? are taking advantage of the tax incentives out in Stamford, CT (home to Maury, Jerry, and Steve) where AMC also considered moving before deciding on L.A. So I wouldn't automatically rule tri-state out. Wherever they can do it for the cheapest.

Are there union/contractual rules about using the same sets under a new production company? Is it as simple as ABC *selling* PP their sets?

I wonder if AMC will continue with Andrita. It may be easier for PP to have its shows under the same roof as they are new at this. AMC could move back to NY for all we know.

SFK, I sure hope that AMC moves back to NYC. Unfortunately, according to Errol, it seems as if it is simply too expensive for Prospect Park to move AMC away from Los Angeles:

However, one of the big questions left unanswered are where will the shows be produced? "All My Children" moved its production to the Andrita studios in Los Angeles, CA back in January of 2010 in a multi-year licensing deal. Will the show remain in that studio? It looks like it will as the cost factor would be too great for Prospect to move the series once more. However, things look a little less certain for "One Life to Live," which took over "AMC's" New York studio space housed in the ABC Television Center. With ABC no longer producing the series it is likely the series will be moved to another facility or moved to the West Coast right along with "AMC" in order for Prospect Park to better manage the daily operations of the drama series.

AMC should have simply been moved to Stamford, CT in the first place. I think part of the reason why it was moved all the way to Los Angeles was so that Frons could be closer to it (and micromanage it even more).

I feel like so much of AMC is shot in that infernal park that the new show will just be there full time. They'll just store the equipment in the ladies room and put a fake "out of order" sign on the door. OLTL will probably be shot in various subway tunnels around New York. There's plenty of musicians down there to provide the soundtrack for the next musical.

I have definitely been thinking that the gorgeous park, backyard, and hotel room shoots we've seen on the daytime show and online extras are just the beginning.

I really dislike that warm and sunny park where so many AMC scenes are shot, because it tells me that Pine Valley is in Southern California (as opposed to Pennsylvania).

Agreed. I readily admit I don't support the show anymore because of the move. It should have stayed right here on the east coast. The feeling of the show is just lost on me now.

The park and that hospital. It seems those are the primary locations for this show. I don't recall the hospital being SUCH a focal point on this show.

I think the park can be really pretty when they choose the perfect backdrop, but if they want to be outside, I would take a front porch/backyard over that park any day. L.A. architecture and foliage being a hurdle. My favorite was the Chandler backyard/pool. All of this exterior stuff done in Westchester and Fairfield would be gorgeous.

I vaguely remember when the hospital set was renovated. I think it might've been during the big steadicam fiasco. Ever since then PVH has become a primary set.

Yeah. The park scenes are lovely but overall I think that the move west was detrimental to the show's aesthetics. The park scenes, the wardrobe, the makeup all showed a real change after the move and I don't think it was for the better. JMHO.

And the show is pretty doctor heavy: Angie (husband), Frankie (wife), David (daughter, victims), Jake (wife), Cara (husband), Griffin (patient/love interest)...

Did any of the old sets remain in Los Angeles? Or, was every set new?

When Erica was having her penthouse built, it took me forever to wrap my brain around the fact that this was not her L.A. apartment but still in Pine Valley.

I always like the way they dress Amanda and Erica.

IIRC, there was some fiasco about sets traveling cross country. Chandler mansion was newish and I think that one made the move (?) with some minor changes, including furniture.
