I think ABC will let Ron out of doing the GH gig and he will continue with OLTL. But I'm wrong a lot.

I've been thinking/wondering about that. I guess it depends on the terms of his contract and who else is available. PP and ABC are two different companies so even if ABC cuts him loose who's to say that PP can or would pick him up? Again, if PP had already been developing a new soap, I'd imagine they have a list of potentials. But they certainly seem to be erring on the side of the status quo so I could easily see Ron getting a second life.

Passante as OLTL HW would be a terrible idea. She may have been good at one point in her career, but she has been burnt out and out of fresh ideas long ago. I say promote from within like they did with Ron.

She really has never been IMHO as HW. Apparently she was regarded as good as an associate or breakdown writer, though much of that Malone/Griffith era was pretty great in general, till Griffith left... The year she co-wrote OLTL after he left with Peggy Sloan and Leah Laiman was a muddle. Then her work at AMC at first seemed to be ok--but Agnes Nixonw as official co-headwriter, and it was schizo, with the stories we assume Passanantye doing not meshing with Nixon's lesbian story, etc--then when Passanante became solo HW all Hell broke loose--I still think it was arguably worse than any era of McTavish, Rayfield or even Pratt. Then amongst rumours of being fired, she fled ship and was picked up as part of the team at ATWT--and AMC was left without a HW for some months. And I don't think anyone liked her work at ATWT any more, really, though at first sh just assited Sheffer.

Anyway, I know when she was hired at OLTL rumoru was she's be co-headwriter, but to my knowledge that never happened. But I think, even with a decent EP, her HWing OLTL would be disaster. .

When it was first announced that PP had licensed the shows wasn't it speculated the LB and JHC were signed on for AMC? Also, I posted earlier how odd I think it is that only 4 actors have signed but what about the production and writing staff for OLTL which appears to be the darling show with PP right now? Shouldn't that have been announced first? And JP is a terrible choice for writer on OLTL

This is what confuses me. It was mentioned quite clearly, but again nothing all that official that LB and JHC (who I'd rather see go, but...) would be moving to online AMC, but nothign has been stated about OLTL's behind the scenes crew at all, even rumours--yet we know some cast for OLTL and not at all for AMC...

The only thing is with the much touted ratings of OLTL and the facts about its budget, I could see Frons trying to (briefly until the inevitable cancelation) cut his loses and place both at GH as a sorta "Look I am paying attention to the numbers" and (this is all conjecture), because he really doesn't care much about how these soaps do online but still has, for now, some concern for GH. The very fact that they promoted Wolfe (sp?) to GH for now just reminds me of when he came on board at ABC and promoted Rayfield at AMC merely, it seemed, while working out if he could get McTavish or another bigger name writer, back (Frons' instincts were slightly in the right place initially--he seemed to look at who was writing the soaps at their mid 90s ratings peak, which is why he hired McTavish, and Malone/Griffith for OLTL even if it didn't really work out particularly at OLTL). Then again RC *was* promoted from within at OLTL and he stuck, so who knows.

Jean Passanante = CANDY CANE NO!!!

Jean Passanante = Heroine shot in the head

Jean Passanante = Dog Boy

I may have more mixed views on her ATWT work (her OLTL work was boring and pointless in her first run) but the above is what I always associate with her. That damn candy cane drove me away for months.

Don't forget Ghost Gillian, Libidizone, Laura becomes a bitch but needs a heart... Yeah I don't even remember that era of OLTL very clearly except that it was a muddled mess--boring is the right word.

Laura ugh.

On Youtube a Nora fan has been putting up some 1996 clips. It's just so pedestrian. It's really a shame to see how generic and poorly written the climax of Rachel's drug story and the RJ/Nora one night stand reveal was. And I wonder how much she knew about the show really, because they have Kevin in the story "interviewing" Rachel and the family, and not once is there any indication that he and Rachel were deeply in love only 3 years before this. He doesn't even react to the possible Drew/Rachel relationship (which was the best part of the story, and sadly dropped, I'm guessing due to racism).

Another Option if gary Tomlin returns as OLTL EP, Chris Whitesell could come back as HW. He was Co-HW with LB in 2001-03

People would probably say the ATWT period of time you got hooked one was some of the stronger material in its last decade.

They can just use the NAIR already on set.

Good heavens does PP not know any other writers in the entertainment industry than the same group of dried up talent thats been killing it for years and while some people think RC walks on water his ideas are as dated and cliched as the rest. Same EP's, same HW;s, same showkillers.

Didn;t Frons actually hire a decent writer for the second season of that Soapnet spinoff of GH they did someone who was a primetime writer who actually got a lot of praise for the writing he did?

The thing is it's smart to go with someone who knows how to effectively produce and write Daytime Dramas

Based on what? How successfully the current writers across the genre have done? If you need continuity keep some of the breakdown writers

or scriptwriters in place but lord hire some fresh blood from outside the genre. This is one of the reasons the storytelling is as dated as it is.

Im not saying Hire Current EP's and HW's To Helm OLTL But Hire Folks that can do the job

Well, KdP could keep hocking no!no!. I'm just saying.

Or hocking her daytime divas ditties? lol

I wonder if they already have ideas about who will write and produce OLTL?

Anyway, a part of me suspects--again this could be optimism--that they're waiting to make some sort of announcement soon after AMC goes off the air, which probably would get them more media attention... But I am getting impatient one way or the other...

I find it shocking PP isn't advertising AMC's new home during AMC's final weeks.
