Today I found a pretty amusing similarity between an opening shot from 2003 and a new one from 2024. Can we guys find similar things happening through the years? The same type of shot in the intro... reimagined?

Finn today.

For some reason I see this post just now... I missed it before.

I'm sorry for my late response. @Anooj I appreciate all your commentary.

What I think about the Macy, Darla, Thorne situation is that it's very reductive, very cliche, very boring, but at least it's more edible than Ridge calling Bridget my princess every episode. At least I don't feel like throwing up watching it. At least the characters are not crazily related so that it will border on incest.

But I find the sudden reactivation of Darla... unbelievable and her sudden love for Thorne - absurd. She's known this man practically her whole life... and now... just NOW decided she wants his babies. Stupid.

I don't have the pictures at hand, but some I remember:

- Felicia's shot in the 1990 opening looked like OG Kristen's shot (peeking through a gate). The same gate also appeared in one of Becky's shots in 1999.

- One of Adam's shots in the 1998 opening (lounging in the pool) looked like one of Clarke's shots from the previous year.

- Kristen #2 in 2001 had a similar pose to Maggie from the 1995 opening and Macy in the 1999 opening (sitting on the couch dressed in a silky robe).

- The same living room / striped couch appears in shots used for Claudia Cortez (1996) and Jennifer Finnigan's Bridget (2000).

- When Darla was re-added to the opening in 2003, one of her shots (looking out of the  window) resembled Taylor's old shots, just mirrored, and the other one with the satin bed sheets resembled one of Lauren's shots from the 1998 opening.

- Winsor Harmon's Thorne, Lilly Melgar's Claudia, and Jennifer Finnigan's Bridget all had shots taken at the same green window.

Prior to the 2003 affair, Darla definitely showed some interest Thorne. In 1997, when Thorne had moved into his beach house, Darla visited him there and aggressively flirted with him. In the 90s, when Darla was still on contract – she was bumped to recurring once Saul had died –, they tested Darla with a lot of men (Clarke, Thorne, Anthony, Connor, Dylan), but never fully went there. At one point, she even dreamed of being Eric's wife.

    • Like a lot of soaps, once relatives left, they kinda dropped off the face of the earth and out of conversations. I don't know why writers do that. If they just don't want to confuse viewers, or don't think it matters, or want the liberty kind of revise history to make their stories work. After Josh left in '84, he's barely mentioned. Even when Billy's railing against Kyle and refusing to accept him, it'd be the most natural thing in the world to say "Kyle's NOT by brother, JOSH is!" and I don't think he ever really says that.  The only writer I can recall who didn't do that is Doug Marland on ATWT.
    • IIRC, there is a line during this time period where Reva says something like Marah is her first-born child, which fans were not thrilled with.  Dylan makes a few appearances through the rest of the show (and a much later recast that isn't really worth talking about, with a face that is familiar to you). He will make one briefly during 1997, if you get that far.
    • Another great episode.  GH has been pretty good this year, loading up the chamber, because now there's many bullets to fire, and another one was fired today when Nina found out Michael is the father of Sasha's baby.  I hope this secret comes out at the hearing.  I've also liked the slow burn with Gio/Emma. There's just so many things to look forward to on this show now.  GH is finally back to being really good.
    • I'm all for it. Get them Nina!

    • I am blown away that Christie Clark is 51, and she debuted 39 years ago. They gave her a lovely script today.  But, I could not think of any other examples in culture of someone able to jump right back into the skin of a character, after virtually retiring from acting years ago. I was trying to recall if Carrie left for a bit with Anna after Roman died (because she wasn't at Bo & Hope's wedding), and then returned as a pre-teen Christie?  Or if she was just SORASed off-screen?  But, whenever I see the character I am reminded how much more trauma she's endured than Sami, and yet she remains such a nice person.
    • Weirdly I feel like Nina was the most sus about the entire situation.  Normally I would have given this one to Carly, but Nina was always kind of trying to make it make sense. I think Nina (and Alexis) are actually really smart characters.  They just constantly get in their own way with dumb plans lol.
    • Rewatching some of 1991 I had to appreciate what a strong week March 5-12 1991 was. Cassandra dies, Nina shoots David, Sheila switces the babies, and drunk Nikki all occurring simultaneously. 1991 and 92 were pretty strong overall.
    • Still loving all the Gio fallout, but the scenes that really surprised me this episode were the ones with Nina and Maxie. I was not expecting Nina to be the one to put together all the pieces about Sasha's baby daddy. This custody hearing is about to get explosive!
    • I really hope after the secret comes out their interactions don't stop
    • BAHAHA  I needed that laugh today. Talk about one note.  I would put Derek and Ashley a notch above Dani. Dani's scenes are basically rinse, lather, and repeat for 60 episodes and counting.  It's as if she was transported from the soap opera Passions onto this soap.  MVJ should put aside her friendship/admiration for Karla and look at the fact that this character isn't wroking as written.
