Interesting, this era is a muddle for me, but it must be from whgen JFP was ghost headwriting (reportedly) after Pam Long left and before McTavish came in. Anna Cascio is listed first in the writers--and *Harding Lemay* is listed last--I didn't know he was credited on the show though I know he consulted (and I think has only had good things to say about JFP)...

At the time I was mostly annoyed with the show again telling us how awesome Tea was.

I wasn't watching all that much when both Patrick and Dylan were on but I think Dylan was more interesting when he was embittered and had the edge. In some ways I think he had the most potential after he and Marty split. I think he just ended up dating Linda (who sadly never had anything to do) and quietly leaving town.

Right I forgot about that--I remember some comic scenes between all the brothers at the Springs or somewhere but that seemed to be their only real purpose--and maybe a desire to have a group of younger hunks.

Speaking of, queerty posted a tribute to the more often than not shirtless men of OLTL. Annoyingly it focuses mainly on the last little while where I found it beyond ridiculous, but...

    • Do we think Shelley Curtis is the director KM said was brought out of retirement to help them set up the production side of BTG?
    • TBH the only soap I remotely liked Cady on was ATWT   I dunno WTH she's doing with Pamela on this show but it's cringe beyond words
    • Kelli Giddish (Di Henry, AMC) has been reinstated as a regular in her popular role on Law & Order: SVU after a few seasons off.
    • I really like Paul Telfer a lot.   But I loathe Xander!

) Anyways... I did really feel disgusted by Eurovision this year and I doubt I'll watch this horrific musical torture in the future. My ears and my psyche will not survive.
    • Regarding the mobster storyline: The scripts, the cardroom set, and the writing for Joey -- are all terrible. They seem to be writing a realistic depiction of compulsive gambling as an addiction, showing that it pops into his head all the time -- it has become hardwired into his brain.  The APA (American Psychological Association) describes compulsive gambling as having a similar effect on the physical brain as drug and alcohol addiction. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/07/how-gambling-affects-the-brain I think Jason Graham (Doug) is doing an adequate job playing Doug as a compulsive gambler, with the thoughts/urges coming into his head all the time, and being unable to stop. However, the cardroom set is awful and the mobster storyline is a bad cliché, so it's all so uninteresting to watch. I think Mr. Graham is doing the best he can with the crap they gave him to work with. If anyone reading or watching has a gambling issue, check out Gamblers Anonymous.  They have many types of meetings -- in-person, online, video, audio, etc.  They also have resources for friends/family of compulsive gamblers.
    • Today was painful (especially for Philip).  I still feel for Xander. He was clear he was happy sharing and working with Philip. It's just one more betrayal from someone he loved. Going back to last year when he found out about Victor and Fiona, then Alex and Philip. He forgave and tried. Then Philip went behind his back again. He's been walking on the edge for weeks. This is a man who was abused, neglected and has never had any therapy for his horrific past. He has zero coping skills because he's never learned them. I hate this but I refuse to hate Xander
    • Lucy Coe wasn't even this big of a whore.
    • Kate being the one that Alex called was a nice surprise. The cut to her looking all sheek made me instantly get excited for her to get back into business mode. And the Jack reference from when she first came to town (on-screen) was inserted naturally which is always welcome. When they were talking about how much sex sells, I almost got the impression they were sizing each other up in a May/December type of way.  All the Philip stuff was gruesome. I'm happy the show isn't shying away from Xander's ugliness. I love them both, and it just makes me intrigued for the aftermath for it all to be taken seriously. I cheered when Philip spat out at that Sarah knew the truth. I'm on tenterhooks for their eventual confrontation. I was surprised that Kate wasn't a little vicious towards Sarah for Xander's obvious behavior, but maybe that's still to come. How wonderfully entangled is it that both Philip and Shawn/Steve stopped each other from getting the drug. Both equally at fault. Who/what will ultimately save Bo? And with everything going on, is a Salem where it's looking likely that EJ is about to own the hospital imminent?
