@Maxim Thanks as always. Never saw just what a mess Nora was early on.

Valerie Pettiford is divine. She deserved a much better career. And better than whatever Y&R is doing with her now.

The little old lady was Dr. Ruth, a longtime sex therapist who was a pop culture storm in the '80s and '90s. She was a very kind woman, reportedly. Mary Gross once mentioned doing an impression of her on Saturday Night Live, with a long speech about her relationship with her mother - she was mortified to learn Dr. Ruth was in the audience that night, as the real Ruth's mother had died in the Holocaust. She sought Ruth out to apologize, but Ruth had nothing but kind words for her.

She passed away last year.

Here are a few clips of her near the start and end of her peak of fame.

Hahaha, when you take her out of the context of the show (OLTL), she really seems like a riot! Such a charming lady. I also enjoyed learning about the story behind her fun personality. There's a lot of trauma hidden underneath. Thank you for these clips!

P.S. I completely agree about the amazing Valarie Pettiford. I wish we could see her on BTG some day... I remember watching her react to the show on Tonja Walker's podcast... and she looked really impressed by it.

I also hope we see Sheila in something more "leading" going into 1993. She is not given enough if you ask me. I've been waiting to see more of her relationship with Hank, but they still only give her a scene here and there. Why do they lose our time with Alex and Mortimer, when we have characters like Sheila available? 🫠

Oh Dr. Ruth LOL - I remember her as a teenager thinking WTH LOL. @Maxim - Are you full on German, or an American living in Germany now?  I'm always so curious. :)

Oh... hahahaha...  I'm neither. I live in Germany (mainly because of my husband) but I actually come from a different European country called Bulgaria. For those who don't know, it's right next to Greece. In fact, I'm also half Greek. So, I've got a lot of different cultures in me, but none from America. I'm really surprised you would even think I was American... because I feel like my English isn't as good as other people here. I do my best, but I can never speak or write it as well as I can express myself in other languages. 😁

Oh very cool!  I have a work colleague from Bulgaria, very nice guy. I haven't visited there, but I did do a week in Greece a few years back and it was beautiful - one of my favorite vacations to-date.

Your English is just fine, I honestly had no idea, I just assumed you were American (my bad!) haha.

Oh, thank you! And yes about Greece - very beautiful... and very expensive 😁! Sent my greetings to your colleague! We, Bulgarians... are one of the handsomest people on this planet! 😂

P.S. I just finished 2 fresh 1992 episodes... and I'm lost for words. So many powerful moments... I can't wait to tell you guys about it tomorrow morning (I'm too sleepy right now to even start) and clip one scene in particular. Oh... and... Dorian and Sloan kissed. Shocked GIF by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

"The Passion of Dorian Lord"

🔷

Meow. Miss Lord is on the prowl! A new man has caught her eye. Sloan Carpenter, who just received the cold shoulder from Viki and is now on the rebound. Oh, well. Dorian Lord isn't bothered. She never is. She's the ultimate guilty pleasure hook-up, like those late-night cold fries you munch on after a night of drinking. She knows full well that Sloan's thoughts and feelings are elsewhere. And this time, she even said it. Things are getting risky now... Dorian Lord has started to suspect that Sloan and Viki might be having an affair. THIS COULD TURN OUT TO BE VERY. I MEAN. VERY. MESSY.

🔷

At Asa's place, Duke Buchanan found himself in the hands of a woman who really should be in a mental health facility... instead of just hanging out with Asa while he drinks his morning scotch. It's clear she needs professional help, and I can see where this is going. They dodged a bullet this time... Blair showed up just in time to grab the baby from Addie's arms while she was standing too close to the window. Later that evening, Asa visited Dorian (who was exercising on the bike after Sloan left her hot and bothered 😂) and filled her in on what went down with the baby... The two troublemakers are plotting behind Blair's back to get Addie committed to a mental institution. If Blair finds out...

🔷

The tension and bitterness at Llanfair reached new heights. Victoria and Clint are dealing with issues that run much deeper than just Sloan Carpenter. In fact, he's merely a symptom of a deeper rot. Only Victoria seems to get this... while Clint remains fixated on Sloan Carpenter. Another factor that could further destabilize their marriage is what Viki is doing behind Clint and Kevin's backs regarding Leanne. She's essentially arranging secret visits for her to see her child. While I was watching, I turned to my husband and said - Viki is one of those people who are just too good... too empathetic... to the point of being TOXIC. By the end of the night, a single phone call cast an even darker shadow over the atmosphere. The caller said nothing... he just wanted to hear Viki's voice. She knew who it was. We all did. And sadly... Clint also sensed who it was. Sloan.

🔷

The Suede-Luna-Max saga continues with a shadowy figure striking Max on the head and then locking him up in a dusty room. I'm really trying hard to resist the urge to skip these scenes. I can practically see the plot twist coming. Luna and Suede are going to find the true killer of his wife... Luna's going to be attacked, and either Suede or Max will swoop in to rescue her. Then, brace yourselves for the classic love triangle. I'm definitely removing a point from my overall rating... even though these episodes were absolutely THRILLING.

 Overall -  9/10

Thanks @Maxim

Dorian would be scandalized at being compared to a cold fry, but I love it.

😂😂😂

I only meant it as a compliment. (I'm a cold fry-lover)

The tale of the 2 first Vikis....(OLTL 1968)

It seems that Sharon Laughlin taped the first OLTL episode...but at the very last moment, she had to be fired and Gillian Spencer took over the important role of Victoria Lord, and she taped again that legendary first episode.

Has anyone ever seen this episode?

I have found a picture of the 2 Vikis, one with Anthony Ponzini (Vince Wolek) and the other one with Ernest Graves (Victor Lord). Both actresses wear the same dress!!!!!

And I read that William Cox was Timmy Siegel... but when? I know that William Fowler was Timmy from 1969 until 1972(?)

I thought the first picture was Trish Van Devere as Meredith. In fact I still think it is. I don't know of any surviving pix or footage of Laughlin as Viki.

All I'm saying is there are pix of Van Devere floating around from OLTL in almost the same outfit with the same hair. And frankly I've seen her in a lot of films. That looks like her, not Sharon Laughlin.

The fact is both characters have the same dress... I wonder why...

Yes, I've seen that picture. I'm still not convinced the other picture is Laughlin unless there's a caption indicating that it is, but it's certainly possible.

I had no idea that Laura Bonarrigo Koffman was on AW before her time on AW. She was on AW in 1991 shortly before she started her tenure on OLTL. I don't think her role lasted very long.
