Friends and soap lovers, just as I was about to give Leanne a proper chance...  just... as I was beginning to actually root for her... she did it again. The new identities... (two bad wigs that got better as the episode progressed) were not enough to change who they really are. You can't escape from your old ways. Leanne did what she does best - she started getting involved with YET another man - this time... a nasty bar owner who wants to have sex with her. And it seems that Leanne may be willing to do anything for money. Jason is now... basically her baby's sitter and that's it. This repeats one of life's most important lessons - when you get involved with trash, you become trash. Jason - you deserve so much better. I'm so irritated, but at the same time... I love they are showing us that Leanne's true colors haven't changed. Desperation is making her do mistake after mistake. But this time... there are two other souls going down with her.

Tina and Cain are no longer cartoon characters, but resemble human beings with motivation and goals. The current agenda is getting Cain back into Asa's good graces. To be able to do that, Tina had to blackmail Blair with her birth-control pills. I loved seeing this side of Tina - a troublemaker, a manipulator. I WAS DONE with the stupid circus sidekick. I want to mix this commentary with a small note about Alex Olanov - she is also given a real storyline this time and the cartoon elements seem to be toned down too. She needs to get the power back and destroy her adversary in the mafia - the cringe guy with the snake. And her idea - turn Mortimer into Carlo... in order to scare him off. This is not some deep... Chekhov stuff, but it's better than the jewels fiasco.

 🔷

Andrew Carpenter got a second chance at staying in Llanview after part of the community stood by him and basically bullied the pig-bishop into surrender. Just as he was thanking God and over the moon about it... another problem arose. Andrew is NEVER without problem - Cassie... can't and won't agree to marry him. And he is put in an impossible situation. He can't continue a relationship like this, because it's against the rules of the church, but she won't marry him either. It's Thorn Birds level of conflict and I'm here for it.

 🔷

Overall - we are continuing in a nice pace, the themes are shifting into more typical classic soap... even though they are clearly continuing Billy and Andrew's parallel journeys. Which is great and happens very rarely when soaps are done with a social theme storyline.

P.S I miss Victoria!  I can't wait for her to come back. They deliberately left us... in the most interesting moment.  I love and hate when they do that.

 Overall - 10/10

Finally... some justice for Andrew Carpenter!

I went to her Wiki page and was surprised to see this OLTL entry, meaning they must have liked her so much to bring her back for a larger role a few years later. I don't remember this role, but her Nurse Gina role isn't listed at all.

1995–1996 One Life to Live Magdalena / Nel

Ah, I'm just happy that we are going to be seeing more from her. She is one of a kind. Thank you for researching it... ❤️

A rare photo of Mark Brettschneider (Jason) with dalmations.

He is one of my favorites. IMG_20250917_003954.jpg

I only know Wortham Krimmer from his brief villainous stint as Cal Winters on Days from 89-90, which I found underwhelming.

How nice to see him in a better role that highlights his talent and charisma.

This is so sweet. He did the Buzzfeed puppy videos before they were a thing.

A villain! I would love to see how he does in that, because I've always felt these facial features have so much potential for menace. And yeah, I would say that Andrew is something of a writer's favorite. He has been given so much powerful material, maybe even more than anyone else.

Yes! So sad that he didn't act in anything much after OLTL. I would love to see how he looks these days, but there are just no pictures.

P.S Correction. After some hardcore digging I found this one from 2010. He was still handsome! ❤️

"Taking a walk on the wild side."

🔷

I think this is going to be a wrap for Andrew Carpenter for a while. The show is preparing to backburn the character... send him off on a much needed rest. He's dominated months and months of story and we all need a little bit of pause. Not that I didn't grow to like him, quite the contrary, but I'm excited for the new directions and storylines. The pretext they used - he and Cassie sort of broke up, after she refused to accept his marriage. And immediately after that... he accepted an invitation to a conference. They both said their Goodbyes. I agree with the writers that it's too early for Cassie to marry again. She very recently got divorced from Bo and it would be stupid to hurry this relationship. They've been close for only couple of months at best. And I didn't like how Andrew was pressuring her. For a man all about principle and choice... he didn't like getting rejected. (nobody does)

🔷

Marty was walking on the edge of danger when she entered Suede's hotel room. He basically manhandled her up to a point I thought he may strangle her... but they played it off like she likes it "rough" and then cooled it off with Marty finding Luna's crystal. (Is Luna hidden in some basement where this guy kidnapped her or something... WHERE IS LUNA?) I don't know what I think about this. I do want Marty to get some karma back, but I don't want her to end up one of the victims of a serial killer, which they've been hinting at.  We'll see. Susan Haskell, however is sublime in these episodes. I like seeing Marty in different situations other than being a parasite in the community. But I still can't root for her. It's so hard for me to not dislike her. She has been painted as this monster-liar and there is no going back... for me.

🔷

Leanne's stupidity ended up costing Jason's freedom. A completely unnecessary (but in character) conflict over Leanne and her boss led to a pathetic bar brawl between Jason and the creep in question. Then later when in custody... he was recognized as one of the kidnappers and arrested. Not before he managed to give Leanne a signal and tell her to RUN. I didn't expect this to go for so long, but the suspense is good. Hats off to the writers. They are keeping me on the edge of my seat. I wonder what Leanne will do now... who she will turn to.

🔷

Blair's manipulation of Asa... in order to get Cain back inside the mansion... backfired. Asa, a clever old fox... knew exactly HOW to turn the tables! So yes, he agreed to rehire Cain... but immediately put him on the job for Blair's project - her jewelry company. Our heroine was close to a meltdown, of course... but she didn't have any choice left. Now she has to live with the consequences. Or Asa will find out that she's popping birth control pills. This is getting very interesting. I think we may be heading for a Cain-Blair affair... and I say - why not?

🔷

Overall - I like everything the show is doing right now. They had some issues couple of weeks ago... it felt unbalanced, the comedy was overshadowing everything in a bad way. Now the balance is back and the show reminds me of how well they were doing in April and May with the Blair-Dorian culmination (If my memory is correct for the months). The quality I was accustomed to... is back... and even better. I was beginning to get little scared for a moment when the Cleopatra jewels-Tina-Cain stuff was going on. That was NOT something I could watch for much longer. Every episode was a struggle. Now... I can barely keep myself from binging the episodes. I am starting to annoy my husband, since he doesn't even get a chance to use the TV in the living room. It's me and OLTL constantly... and a package of sunflower seeds.

 Overall - 10/10

We don't need to spoiler tag 30+ year old stories AFAIC. I'm not going to and I don't expect anyone to do it for me just because I am exploring '91/'92, which is shortly before I began watching. I know plenty of broad strokes.

@Maxim Thanks again. That Marty and Suede scene is definitely trying for the heat and the atmosphere. Whether it does or not is another matter, but this is an interesting transition period for Marty. I was amused at her response to the ludicrous sequence of him writing "trouble" on her body ("at least you know the alphabet").

@Vee Thanks. I knew NLG was on OLTL but didn't realize it was for that long. And that story about Joe Stuart - so many horrors with him.

I knew something about some bit part but I didn't know it was some multi-year recurring character. I have no idea what the character was about.

The guy playing Suede tried hard, bless him, but I always suspected it was a case of daytime trying to put a flamboyantly gay dude over as a heartthrob. Maybe my gaydar's off, who knows!
